Job 1:4-6

4 Now it was customary for his sons to hold a banquet, each on his own day in his own house. They would send to invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5 When the round of banquet days was completed, Job would send for them and consecrate them. He would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings, according to the number of them all. For Job said, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did everyday.

6 One day the sons of God came to present themselves before Adonai, and the satan[a] also came with them.

4 His sons used to hold feasts(A) in their homes on their birthdays, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5 When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified.(B) Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering(C) for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned(D) and cursed God(E) in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.
6 One day the angels[a](F) came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan[b](G) also came with them.(H)
