Job 1:4-5

⁴His sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each one on his day, and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. ⁵And when the days of the feast had run their course, Job would send and ^(A)consecrate them, and he would rise early in the morning and ^(B)offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my children have sinned, and ^(C)cursed^[a] God in their hearts.” Thus Job did continually.

⁴His sons used to travel to each other’s houses in turn on a regular schedule and hold festivals, inviting their three sisters to celebrate^[a] with them.

⁵When their time of feasting had concluded, Job would rise early in the morning to send for them^[b] and consecrate them to God.^[c] He would offer a burnt offering for each one,^[d] because Job thought, “Perhaps my children sinned by cursing God in their hearts.” Job did this time and again.^[e]

⁴His sons used to hold feasts^(A) in their homes on their birthdays, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. ⁵When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified.^(B) Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering^(C) for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned^(D) and cursed God^(E) in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.
