Jesus Is Equal with God

¹⁸ This was why the Jews ^(A)were seeking all the more to kill him, ^(B)because not only was he ^(C)breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God ^(D)his own Father, ^(E)making himself equal with God.

⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, ^(A)I am.”

^30 (A)I and the Father are one.”

^31 (B)The Jews picked up stones again to stone him. ³² Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?” ³³ The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but ^(C)for blasphemy, because you, being a man, ^(D)make yourself God.”

²⁸ Thomas answered him, ^(A)“My Lord and my God!”

^28 (A)Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all ^(B)the flock, in which ^(C)the Holy Spirit has made you ^(D)overseers, ^(E)to care for ^(F)the church of God,^[a] which he ^(G)obtained ^(H)with his own blood.^[b]

^6 (A)who, though he was in ^(B)the form of God, did not count equality with God ^(C)a thing to be grasped,^{[a] 7} but ^(D)emptied himself, by taking the form of a ^(E)servant,^{[b] (F)}being born in the likeness of men. ⁸ And being found in human form, he humbled himself by ^(G)becoming obedient to the point of death, ^(H)even death on a cross.

⁹ For ^(A)in him the whole fullness of deity dwells ^(B)bodily,

¹⁰ not pilfering, ^(A)but showing all good faith, ^(B)so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.

¹¹ For ^(C)the grace of God ^(D)has appeared, bringing salvation ^(E)for all people, ¹² training us to renounce ungodliness and ^(F)worldly passions, and ^(G)to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in ^(H)the present age, ^13 (I)waiting for our blessed ^(J)hope, the ^(K)appearing of the glory of our great ^(L)God and Savior Jesus Christ,

⁶ And again, when he brings ^(A)the firstborn into the world, he says,
