Lob Gottes angesichts der Segnungen des messianischen Friedensreiches
25 O Herr, du bist mein Gott; dich will ich erheben! Ich lobe deinen Namen, denn du hast Wunder getan; deine Ratschlüsse von alters her sind zuverlässig und wahrhaftig!
2 Denn du hast die Stadt zum Steinhaufen gemacht, die feste Burg zum Trümmerhaufen, den Palast der Fremden zu einer untergegangenen Stadt; ewiglich wird sie nicht mehr aufgebaut werden.
3 Darum ehrt dich auch ein mächtiges Volk, die Städte gewalttätiger Nationen fürchten dich;
4 denn du bist dem Schwachen eine Zuflucht geworden, eine Zuflucht dem Armen in seiner Not, ein Schirm vor dem Wolkenbruch, ein Schatten vor der Hitze, als der Zornhauch der Tyrannen wie ein Unwetter gegen eine Wand [daherkam].
5 Wie die Sonnenglut in einer dürren Gegend, so dämpfst du das Toben der Fremden; wie die Sonnenglut durch den Schatten einer Wolke, so legt sich der Triumphgesang der Tyrannen.
6 Und der Herr der Heerscharen wird auf diesem Berg allen Völkern ein Mahl von fetten Speisen bereiten, ein Mahl von alten Weinen, von fetten, markigen Speisen, von alten, geläuterten Weinen.
7 Und er wird auf diesem Berg die Schleierhülle wegnehmen[a], die alle Völker verhüllt, und die Decke, womit alle Nationen bedeckt sind.
8 Er wird den Tod auf ewig verschlingen. Und Gott, der Herr, wird die Tränen abwischen von jedem Angesicht und die Schmach seines Volkes hinwegnehmen von der ganzen Erde. Ja, der Herr hat [es] gesprochen.
9 Und an jenem Tag wird man sagen: Seht, das ist unser Gott, auf den wir gehofft haben, dass er uns rette; das ist der Herr, auf den wir hofften; nun lasst uns frohlocken und fröhlich sein in seiner Rettung!
10 Denn die Hand des Herrn wird auf diesem Berg ruhen; Moab aber wird unter ihm zertreten werden, wie Stroh in der Mistlache zertreten wird.
11 Und sollte es auch seine Hände ausbreiten, wie ein Schwimmer sie ausbreitet, um zu schwimmen, so wird Er seinen Hochmut erniedrigen trotz der Kunstgriffe seiner Hände.
12 Deine festen, hochragenden Mauern wird er niederwerfen, abreißen und zu Boden stoßen, in den Staub.

Dankgebet für Gottes Hilfe
25 Herr, du bist mein Gott! Ich lobe dich und preise deinen Namen, denn du vollbringst wunderbare Taten. Was du vor langer Zeit beschlossen hast, das hast du in großer Treue ausgeführt.
2 Die mächtige Stadt – in einen Schutthaufen hast du sie verwandelt! Ihre unbezwingbaren Mauern hast du in Trümmer gelegt und die Paläste der fremden Herrscher zerstört. Die Stadt ist dem Erdboden gleichgemacht, und sie wird nie wieder aufgebaut.
3 Darum ehren dich nun mächtige Völker; in den Städten der Welteroberer wirst du gefürchtet.
4 Die Armen und Schwachen finden Zuflucht bei dir; dort sind sie sicher in Zeiten der Not. Du gibst ihnen Schutz wie ein Dach im Wolkenbruch, wie kühler Schatten in der Mittagshitze. Das Wüten der Gewalttäter gleicht dem Gewitterregen, der an die Mauern prasselt, 5 es ist so unbarmherzig wie die Sonne, die in der Wüste vom Himmel brennt. Doch du bringst ihren Lärm zum Schweigen. Du dämpfst ihr Siegesgeschrei wie eine Wolke die Sonnenhitze.
Ein Festmahl für alle Völker
6 Hier auf dem Berg Zion wird der Herr, der allmächtige Gott, alle Völker zu einem Festmahl mit köstlichen Speisen und herrlichem Wein einladen, einem Festmahl mit bestem Fleisch und gut gelagertem Wein.
7 Dann zerreißt er den Trauerschleier, der über allen Menschen liegt, und zieht das Leichentuch weg, das alle Völker bedeckt. Hier auf diesem Berg wird es geschehen! 8 Er wird den Tod für immer und ewig vernichten. Gott, der Herr, wird die Tränen von jedem Gesicht abwischen. Er befreit sein Volk von der Schande, die es auf der ganzen Erde erlitten hat. Das alles trifft ein, denn der Herr hat es vorausgesagt. 9 In jenen Tagen wird man bekennen: »Er allein ist unser Gott! Auf ihn haben wir unsere Hoffnung gesetzt, und er hat uns gerettet. Ja, so ist der Herr, unsere Hoffnung war nicht vergebens! Nun wollen wir Danklieder singen und uns über seine Rettung freuen!«
Der Herr reißt Moabs Festungen nieder
10 Der Herr hält seine Hand schützend über Jerusalem. Das Land Moab dagegen wird zertreten wie Stroh in der Jauche[a]. 11 Verzweifelt schlägt Moab um sich wie ein Ertrinkender. Doch alle Schwimmversuche nützen nichts mehr: Gott zerbricht seinen Stolz und seinen Hochmut. 12 Alle eure hohen und starken Befestigungen, ihr Moabiter, wird er niederreißen und dem Erdboden gleichmachen!

2 For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.
3 Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee.
4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
5 Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.
6 And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.
7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.
8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.
9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
10 For in this mountain shall the hand of the Lord rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.
11 And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.
12 And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls shall he bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.

A fortified city a ruin,
A palace of foreigners to be a city no more;
It will never be rebuilt.
3 Therefore the strong people will (E)glorify You;
The city of the [a]terrible nations will fear You.
4 For You have been a strength to the poor,
A strength to the needy in his distress,
(F)A refuge from the storm,
A shade from the heat;
For the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
5 You will reduce the noise of aliens,
As heat in a dry place;
As heat in the shadow of a cloud,
The song of the terrible ones will be [b]diminished.
6 And in (G)this mountain
(H)The Lord of hosts will make for (I)all people
A feast of [c]choice pieces,

7 And He will destroy on this mountain
The surface of the covering cast over all people,

The rebuke of His people
He will take away from all the earth;
For the Lord has spoken.
9 And it will be said in that day:
“Behold, this is our God;
(M)We have waited for Him, and He will save us.
This is the Lord;
We have waited for Him;
(N)We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”
10 For on this mountain the hand of the Lord will rest,
And (O)Moab shall be trampled down under Him,
As straw is trampled down for the refuse heap.
11 And He will spread out His hands in their midst
As a swimmer reaches out to swim,
And He will bring down their (P)pride
Together with the trickery of their hands.
12 The (Q)fortress of the high fort of your walls
He will bring down, lay low,
And bring to the ground, down to the dust.

25 Lord, you are my God;(A)
I will exalt you and praise your name,(B)
for in perfect faithfulness(C)
you have done wonderful things,(D)
things planned(E) long ago.
2 You have made the city a heap of rubble,(F)
the fortified(G) town a ruin,(H)
the foreigners’ stronghold(I) a city no more;
it will never be rebuilt.(J)
3 Therefore strong peoples will honor you;(K)
cities of ruthless(L) nations will revere you.
4 You have been a refuge(M) for the poor,(N)
a refuge for the needy(O) in their distress,
a shelter from the storm(P)
and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless(Q)
is like a storm driving against a wall
5 and like the heat of the desert.
You silence(R) the uproar of foreigners;(S)
as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud,
so the song of the ruthless(T) is stilled.
6 On this mountain(U) the Lord Almighty will prepare
a feast(V) of rich food for all peoples,
a banquet of aged wine—
the best of meats and the finest of wines.(W)
7 On this mountain he will destroy
the shroud(X) that enfolds all peoples,(Y)
the sheet that covers all nations;
8 he will swallow up death(Z) forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears(AA)
from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace(AB)
from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.(AC)
9 In that day(AD) they will say,
“Surely this is our God;(AE)
we trusted(AF) in him, and he saved(AG) us.
This is the Lord, we trusted in him;

but Moab(AK) will be trampled in their land
as straw is trampled down in the manure.
11 They will stretch out their hands in it,
as swimmers stretch out their hands to swim.

despite the cleverness[a] of their hands.
12 He will bring down your high fortified walls(AN)
and lay them low;(AO)
he will bring them down to the ground,
to the very dust.
