Een nieuwe vrucht uit oude wortels
11 Maar uit de stronk van Isaï, de omgehakte boom van David, zal een scheut groeien, een nieuwe vrucht bloeit op uit zijn wortels. 2 En de Geest van de Here zal op Hem rusten, de Geest van wijsheid en inzicht, van raad en kracht, de Geest van kennis en van ontzag voor de Here. 3 Ontzag voor de Here zal zijn lust en leven zijn. Hij zal niet rechtspreken op grond van wat aannemelijk lijkt of op grond van valse getuigenis of van horen zeggen. 4 De armen en verdrukten zal Hij verdedigen. Maar Hij treft de aarde met het zwaard van zijn mond en doodt de schuldigen met zijn adem, 5 want Hij zal bekleed zijn met rechtvaardigheid en trouw.
6 Dan zullen de wolf en het lam bij elkaar liggen en er zal vrede heersen tussen panter en geit. Kalveren en mestvee zullen veilig tussen de leeuwen kunnen lopen en een klein kind zal hen hoeden. 7 De koeien zullen tussen beren grazen, jonge beertjes zullen bij kalveren liggen en de leeuwen zullen net als de koeien gras eten. 8 Babyʼs zullen veilig tussen giftige slangen kruipen en een klein kind kan rustig zijn hand in een nest met giftige adders steken. 9 Op heel mijn heilige berg zal niemand schade aanrichten of iets vernietigen, want zoals het water de zee vult, zal de aarde vol zijn van de kennis van de Here.
10 In die beslissende tijd zal een nakomeling van Isaï opstaan als een banier en over de volken regeren. Hun hoop zal op Hem gevestigd zijn, alle volken zullen naar Hem toekomen, want het land waar Hij woont, is een glorieuze plaats. 11 In die tijd zal de Here voor de tweede keer een restant van zijn volk terugbrengen naar het land Israël. Zij zullen komen vanuit Assur, Egypte, Pathros, Ethiopië, Elam, Babel, Hamath en uit alle ver afgelegen kustlanden. 12 Hij zal een banier voor hen oprichten tussen de volken waarheen ze zijn weggevoerd. Hij zal de verstrooide Israëlieten bijeenbrengen vanuit alle hoeken van de aarde. 13 Dan zal er ten slotte een einde komen aan de jaloezie tussen Israël en Juda, zij zullen elkaar niet langer bestrijden. 14 Samen zullen zij de volken in het oosten en het westen aanvallen. Zij zullen hun krachten bundelen om hen te vernietigen en zij zullen Edom, Moab en Ammon onderwerpen.
15 De Here zal een pad door de Rode Zee droogleggen en zijn hand over de Eufraat bewegen en een machtige wind sturen die haar zal verdelen in zeven afzonderlijke beekjes die gemakkelijk kunnen worden overgestoken. 16 Hij zal een gebaande weg vanuit Assur maken voor het restant dat daar is overgebleven, net zoals Hij voor heel Israël deed toen het uit Egypte terugkeerde.

11 And there shall come forth a Khoter (Branch) out of the Geza (Stem, Stump, Stock) of Yishai, and a Netzer [Branch [see Tzemach, Moshiach Jer 23:5; 33:15; Zech 3:8; 6:12, Ezra 3:8 which give as Moshiach’s Namesake Yehoshua/Yeshua; compare Mt.2:23 OJBC] shall bear fruit of his roots:
2 And the Ruach [Hakodesh] of Hashem shall rest upon Him, the Ruach of Chochmah and Binah, the Ruach of Etzah (Counsel [see Isaiah 9:5) and Gevurah, the Ruach of Da’as and of the Yir’at Hashem;
3 And His delight shall be in the Yir’at Hashem: and He shall not judge after the sight of His eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of His ears:
4 But with tzedek shall He judge the needy, and reprove with mishor (equity, justice) for the anvei eretz: and He shall strike the earth with the shevet of His mouth, and with the Ruach of His lips shall he slay the reshah.
5 And tzedek shall be the ezor (belt) of His loins, and emunah (faithfulness) the ezor of His waist.
6 The ze’ev (wolf) also shall dwell with the keves, and the namer (leopard) shall lie down with the gedi (young goat); and the egel and the lion whelp and the fatling together; and a na’ar shall lead them.
7 And the parah (cow) and the dov (bear) shall feed together; their yeladim shall lie down together; and the aryeh shall eat teven (straw) like the ox.
8 And the yonek (sucking infant) shall play on the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child shall put his yad in the viper’s me’urah (hole).
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My Har Kodesh; for ha’aretz shall be full of the da’as Hashem, as the mayim cover the sea.
10 And in Yom HaHu there shall be a Shoresh Yishai, which shall stand for a nes (banner) for the peoples; to Him [Moshiach] will the Goyim seek; and His menucha (resting place) shall be kavod.
11 And it shall come to pass in Yom HaHu, that Adonoi shall set His yad again the second time to recover the She’ar (Remnant) of His people, which shall be left [as survivors], from Assyria, and from Mitzrayim, and from Patros, and from Kush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Chamat, and from the islands of the sea.
12 And He shall raise up a nes [a banner, i.e., send a signal] for the Goyim, and shall assemble the outcasts of Yisroel, and gather together the dispersed of Yehudah from the four corners of ha’aretz.
13 The kinah (envy, jealousy) also of Ephrayim shall depart, and the adversaries of Yehudah shall be cut off; Ephrayim shall not envy Yehudah, and Yehudah shall not harass Ephrayim.
14 But they shall swoop down upon the shoulders of the Pelishtim toward the west; they shall plunder them of the east together; they shall lay their yad upon Edom and Moav; and the Bnei Ammon shall obey them.
15 And Hashem shall utterly destroy the leshon Yam Mitzrayim (tongue of the Red Sea); and with His scorchimg Ruach shall He shake His Yad over the Nahar [i.e., Euphrates River], and shall break it into seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.
16 And there shall be a mesillah (highway) for the she’ar (remnant) of His people, which shall be left, from Assyria; just as it was for Yisroel in the Yom that he came up out of Eretz Mitzrayim.

11 But a branch will emerge from the trunk of Yishai,
a shoot will grow from his roots.
2 The Spirit of Adonai will rest on him,
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and power,
the Spirit of knowledge and fearing Adonai —
3 he will be inspired by fearing Adonai.
He will not judge by what his eyes see
or decide by what his ears hear,
4 but he will judge the impoverished justly;
he will decide fairly for the humble of the land.
He will strike the land with a rod from his mouth
and slay the wicked with a breath from his lips.
5 Justice will be the belt around his waist,
faithfulness the sash around his hips.
6 The wolf will live with the lamb;
the leopard lie down with the kid;
calf, young lion and fattened lamb together,
with a little child to lead them.
7 Cow and bear will feed together,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
8 An infant will play on a cobra’s hole,
a toddler put his hand in a viper’s nest.
9 They will not hurt or destroy
anywhere on my holy mountain,
for the earth will be as full
of the knowledge of Adonai
as water covering the sea.
10 On that day the root of Yishai,
which stands as a banner for the peoples —
the Goyim will seek him out,
and the place where he rests will be glorious.
11 On that day Adonai will raise his hand
again, a second time,
to reclaim the remnant of his people who remain
from Ashur, Egypt, Patros,
Ethiopia, ‘Eilam, Shin‘ar,
Hamat and the islands in the sea.
12 He will hoist a banner for the Goyim,
assemble the dispersed of Isra’el,
and gather the scattered of Y’hudah
from the four corners of the earth.
13 Efrayim’s jealousy will cease —
those who harass Y’hudah will be cut off,
Efrayim will stop envying Y’hudah,
and Y’hudah will stop provoking Efrayim.
14 They will swoop down on the flank of the P’lishtim to the west.
Together they will pillage the people to the east —
they will put out their hand over Edom and Mo’av,
and the people of ‘Amon will obey them.
15 Adonai will dry up the gulf
of the Egyptian Sea.
He will shake his hand over the [Euphrates] River
to bring a scorching wind,
dividing it into seven streams
and enabling people to cross dryshod.
16 There will be a highway for the remnant of his people
who are still left from Ashur,
just as there was for Isra’el
when he came out from the land of Egypt.
