8 Ang Egipto ang bumabangong tulad ng Nilo,
gaya ng ilog na umaalon.
Sabi niya, ‘Ako'y babangon, aapawan ko ang lupa,
wawasakin ang mga lunsod, at lilipulin ang mga naninirahan doon.
9 Lumusob kayo, mga mangangabayo!
Sumugod kayong nasa mga karwahe!
Sumalakay kayo, mga mandirigma,
mga lalaking taga-Etiopia[a] at Libya na bihasang humawak ng kalasag;
kayo ring taga-Lud na sanay sa pagpana.’”
10 Ang araw na iyon ay araw ni Yahweh,
ang Makapangyarihang Panginoon,
araw ng paghihiganti niya sa mga kaaway.
Ang tabak ay parang gutom na kakain at hindi hihinto hanggang hindi busog,
iinumin nito ang kanilang dugo.
At ihahandog ni Yahweh ang mga bangkay nila
sa lupain sa hilaga, sa may Ilog Eufrates.

8 Egypt rises like the Nile,(A)
like rivers of surging waters.
She says, ‘I will rise and cover the earth;
I will destroy cities and their people.’(B)
9 Charge, you horses!
Drive furiously, you charioteers!(C)
March on, you warriors—men of Cush[a](D) and Put who carry shields,
men of Lydia(E) who draw the bow.
10 But that day(F) belongs to the Lord, the Lord Almighty—
a day of vengeance(G), for vengeance on his foes.
The sword will devour(H) till it is satisfied,
till it has quenched its thirst with blood.(I)
For the Lord, the Lord Almighty, will offer sacrifice(J)
in the land of the north by the River Euphrates.(K)
