Jeremiah 4:23-26
The Message
23-26 I looked at the earth—
it was back to pre-Genesis chaos and emptiness.
I looked at the skies,
and not a star to be seen.
I looked at the mountains—
they were trembling like aspen leaves,
And all the hills
rocking back and forth in the wind.
I looked—what’s this! Not a man or woman in sight,
and not a bird to be seen in the skies.
I looked—this can’t be! Every garden and orchard shriveled up.
All the towns were ghost towns.
And all this because of God,
because of the blazing anger of God.

23 Observei a terra, e eis que estava assolada e vazia; e os céus, e não tinham a sua luz. 24 Observei os montes, e eis que estavam tremendo; e todos os outeiros estremeciam. 25 Observei e vi que homem nenhum havia e que todas as aves do céu tinham fugido. 26 Vi também que a terra fértil era um deserto e que todas as suas cidades estavam derribadas diante do Senhor, diante do furor da sua ira.

23 Olhei para baixo, para a Terra deles, tão longe quanto podia avistar em todas as direções, e vi um caos que era como uma massa amorfa; nem o firmamento tinha qualquer luminosidade. 24 Olhei para as montanhas e vi que tremiam e se abalavam. 25 Olhei e a humanidade inteira tinha desaparecido; até os pássaros dos ares tinham fugido. 26 Os férteis vales tinham-se tornado em terras secas e desertas; todas as cidades estavam derribadas, diante do Senhor, e esmagadas pela sua fúria.

all its towns lay in ruins(F)
