Jeremiah 8:4-7
Legacy Standard Bible
4 “You shall say to them, ‘Thus says Yahweh,
“Do men (A)fall and not get up again?
Does one turn away and not [a]turn back?
5 Why then has this people, Jerusalem,
[b](B)Turned away in continual faithlessness?
They (C)hold fast to deceit;
They (D)refuse to return.
6 I (E)have given heed and heard,
They have spoken what is not right;
(F)No man regretted his evil,
Saying, ‘What have I done?’
Everyone turned to his course,
Like a (G)horse charging into the battle.
7 Even the stork in the sky
(H)Knows her seasons;
And the (I)turtledove and the swift and the crane
Keep the time of their [c]migration;
But (J)My people do not know
The legal judgment of Yahweh.

Why is Jerusalem always turning away?
They take hold of deceit;(B)
they refuse to return.(C)
6 I have paid careful attention.
They do not speak what is right.
No one regrets his evil,
asking, ‘What have I done?’
Everyone has stayed his course
like a horse rushing into battle.(D)
7 Even storks in the sky
know their seasons.
Turtledoves, swallows, and cranes[a]
are aware of their migration,
but my people do not know
the requirements of the Lord.(E)
