Jeremiah 6
King James Version
6 O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.
2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.
3 The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.
4 Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.
5 Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.
6 For thus hath the Lord of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.
7 As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.
8 Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.
9 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.
10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
11 Therefore I am full of the fury of the Lord; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.
12 And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the Lord.
13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.
16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.
18 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.
19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.
20 To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.
21 Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.
22 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth.
23 They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.
24 We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
25 Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.
26 O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.
27 I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try their way.
28 They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.
29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.
30 Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the Lord hath rejected them.

Asedio de Jerusalén
6 »Pueblo de Benjamín,
sal de Jerusalén y ve a un lugar seguro.
Toca la trompeta en Tecoa
y eleva una bandera de advertencia en Bet Haqueren.
Desde el norte se acerca el sufrimiento,
está por llegar la destrucción.
2 Voy a acabar con la bella hija de Sion,
la delicada ciudad de Jerusalén.
3 Contra ella vendrán pastores con sus rebaños.
Instalarán sus carpas por todos lados
y cada uno se adueñará de una parte de la tierra.
4 »Prepárense para luchar contra Jerusalén;
levántense y ataquemos al mediodía.
Ay de nosotros, el fin del día se acerca,
las sombras de la tarde son más largas.
5 Levántense y ataquemos en la noche;
destruiremos las fortificaciones de Jerusalén».
6 Esto dice el SEÑOR Todopoderoso:
«Corten árboles
y hagan una rampa contra Jerusalén.
Hay que castigar a esta ciudad
porque está llena de injusticia.
7 Como un manantial mantiene frescas sus aguas,
así Jerusalén mantiene frescas sus maldades.
Dentro de Jerusalén se oye violencia y destrucción,
dolor y enfermedad es lo que veo todo el tiempo.
8 Aprende tu lección, Jerusalén,
y así no me separaré de ti.
Si no me escuchas,
te convertiré en una tierra destruida y desolada».
9 Esto dice el SEÑOR Todopoderoso:
«Que busquen a los que queden de Israel,
como quien rebusca uvas en un viñedo.
Revisa de nuevo cada rama,
como hace el recolector de uvas».
10 ¿A quién hablaré y advertiré?
¿Quién escuchará?
Tienen tapados los oídos
y no pueden escuchar.
Se avergüenzan de la palabra del SEÑOR,
no les gusta.
11 Pero yo estoy lleno de la ira del SEÑOR,
ya no puedo contenerla.
«Derrámala sobre el niño de la calle
y sobre las pandillas de jóvenes,
porque serán apresados el marido y la mujer,
el viejo y el anciano cargado de años.
12 Sus casas se las darán a otros
junto con sus campos y sus mujeres;
porque levantaré mi mano
contra los habitantes de este país.
Es la decisión del SEÑOR.
13 »Desde el más chico hasta el más grande,
andan viendo a ver qué se roban.
Los profetas y los sacerdotes
son todos unos estafadores.
14 Porque curan las heridas
de mi pueblo de manera superficial,
y dicen: “Todo quedará en paz, tranquilos”,
cuando en realidad todo está mal.
15 ¿Acaso les ha dado vergüenza
por las cosas horrendas que han hecho?
No les ha dado vergüenza de nada,
ni siquiera saben lo que es avergonzarse.
Por eso caerán junto con todos los demás;
cuando castigue a los otros, ellos también caerán».
Es la decisión del SEÑOR.
16 Esto dice el SEÑOR:
«Párense en los caminos y miren,
pregunten por los senderos antiguos,
busquen el buen camino y sigan por él.
Así encontrarán descanso.
Pero ustedes han dicho:
“No queremos seguir el buen camino”.
17 Coloqué unos hombres
para que hicieran guardia por ustedes
y les advirtieran:
“Estén pendientes del sonido de la trompeta”.
Pero ellos dijeron:
“No estaremos pendientes”.
18 Por eso, naciones, ¡escuchen esto!
y ¡entérense de lo que le va a suceder a este pueblo!
19 Que toda la tierra escuche esto:
Traeré una desgracia a este pueblo;
es lo que se merecen por sus planes perversos,
porque no prestaron atención a mis palabras
y rechazaron mis enseñanzas.
20 ¿Qué gano yo con el incienso que me traen de Sabá[a]
o con el olor de la caña de tierras lejanas?
No me gustan sus sacrificios que deben quemarse completamente
ni sus otros sacrificios».
21 Por eso el SEÑOR dice esto:
«Voy a ponerle tropiezos a este pueblo para que caiga.
Padres e hijos, vecinos y amigos, todos morirán».
22 Esto dice el SEÑOR:
«Miren, desde el norte viene un ejército;
una gran nación se acerca desde los confines de la tierra.
23 Llevan arcos y lanzas,
son crueles y no tienen compasión.
Sus gritos suenan como el rugido del mar,
y van montados a caballo,
en perfecto orden, como un solo hombre,
¡para atacarte, hija de Sion!»
24 Hemos oído hablar de ese ejército,
y quedamos temblando de miedo.
La angustia se apoderó de nosotros,
un dolor como de mujer que va a dar a luz.
25 No salgas al campo,
ni andes por el camino,
porque ahí está la espada del enemigo
y hay terror por todas partes.
26 Pueblo mío, vístete con ropas ásperas
y cúbrete de ceniza.
Haz duelo como si se te hubiera muerto tu único hijo,
porque el destructor caerá muy pronto sobre nosotros.
27 «Quiero que tú examines a mi pueblo,
que lo mires bien para que observes
y evalúes su manera de vivir.
28 Todos ellos son rebeldes
y van sembrando calumnias por todos lados.
Son como el bronce y el hierro,
destructores todos ellos.
29 El fuelle sopla con fuerza
y el fuego hace derretir el plomo;
pero de nada sirve hacer eso con ellos
porque no se apartó al perverso.
30 Así que los llamarán “plata de desecho”
porque el SEÑOR los ha desechado».
