^17 (A)“Israel is a hunted sheep ^(B)driven away by lions. ^(C)First the king of Assyria ^(D)devoured him, and now at last ^(E)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon ^(F)has gnawed his bones. ¹⁸ Therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, ^(G)I am bringing punishment on the king of Babylon and his land, ^(H)as I punished the king of Assyria.

^29 (A)“Summon archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. ^(B)Encamp around her; let no one escape. ^(C)Repay her according to her deeds; do to her according to all that she has done. For she has ^(D)proudly defied the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.

³³ “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ^(A)The people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah with them. All who took them captive have held them fast; ^(B)they refuse to let them go. ^34 (C)Their Redeemer is strong; ^(D)the Lord of hosts is his name. ^(E)He will surely plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, but unrest to the inhabitants of Babylon.
