Jeremiah 48:17-26

¹⁷^(A)Grieve for him, all you who are around him,
and all who know his name;
say, ^(B)‘How the mighty scepter is broken,
the glorious staff.’

¹⁸^(C)“Come down from your glory,
    and sit on the parched ground,
    O inhabitant of ^(D)Dibon!
For the destroyer of Moab has come up against you;
    he has destroyed your strongholds.
¹⁹^(E)Stand by the way ^(F)and watch,
    O inhabitant of ^(G)Aroer!
Ask him who flees and her who escapes;
    say, ‘What has happened?’
²⁰Moab is put to shame, for it is broken;
    ^(H)wail and cry!
Tell it beside ^(I)the Arnon,
    that ^(J)Moab is laid waste.

²¹“Judgment has come upon ^(K)the tableland, upon Holon, and ^(L)Jahzah, and Mephaath, ²²and ^(M)Dibon, and ^(N)Nebo, and Beth-diblathaim, ²³and ^(O)Kiriathaim, and Beth-gamul, and ^(P)Beth-meon, ²⁴and ^(Q)Kerioth, and ^(R)Bozrah, and all the cities of the land of Moab, far and near. ²⁵^(S)The horn of Moab is cut off, and ^(T)his arm is broken, declares the Lord.

²⁶^(U)“Make him drunk, ^(V)because he magnified himself against the Lord, so that Moab shall ^(W)wallow in his vomit, ^(X)and he too shall be held in derision.
