Jeremiah 4:16-18

New International Version

¹⁶“Tell this to the nations,
    proclaim concerning Jerusalem:
‘A besieging army is coming from a distant land,^(A)
    raising a war cry^(B) against the cities of Judah.^(C)
¹⁷They surround^(D) her like men guarding a field,
    because she has rebelled^(E) against me,’”
declares the Lord.
¹⁸“Your own conduct and actions^(F)
    have brought this on you.^(G)
This is your punishment.
    How bitter^(H) it is!
    How it pierces to the heart!”
