Jeremiah 36:7-9

⁷^(A)It may be that their plea for mercy will come before the Lord, ^(B)and that every one will turn from his evil way, for great is the anger and wrath that the Lord has pronounced against this people.” ⁸And Baruch the son of Neriah did all that Jeremiah the prophet ordered him about reading from the scroll the words of the Lord in the Lord's house.

⁹^(C)In the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, ^(D)in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem ^(E)proclaimed a fast before the Lord.

⁷Perhaps they will bring their petition^(A) before the Lord and will each turn^(B) from their wicked ways, for the anger^(C) and wrath pronounced against this people by the Lord are great.”

⁸Baruch son of Neriah did everything Jeremiah the prophet told him to do; at the Lord’s temple he read the words of the Lord from the scroll. ⁹In the ninth month^(D) of the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, a time of fasting^(E) before the Lord was proclaimed for all the people in Jerusalem and those who had come from the towns of Judah.

For great is the anger and the fury that the Lord has pronounced against this people.” ⁸And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading from the book the words of the Lord in the Lord’s house.

⁹Now it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem.
