Jeremiah 34:17-20

¹⁷“Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming ^[a]release, each one to his brother and each to his neighbor. Behold, I am ^(A)proclaiming a ^[b]release to you,’ declares the Lord, ‘to the ^(B)sword, to the plague, and to the famine; and I will make you a ^(C)terror to all the kingdoms of the earth. ¹⁸I will give the people who have ^(D)violated My covenant, who have not fulfilled the words of the covenant which they made before Me, when they ^(E)cut the calf in two and passed between its parts— ¹⁹the ^(F)officials of Judah and the officials of Jerusalem, the high officials and the priests, and all the people of the land who passed between the parts of the calf— ²⁰I will hand them over to their enemies and to those who ^(G)seek their lives. And their ^(H)dead bodies will be food for the birds of the sky and the animals of the earth.

¹⁷“Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother and every one to his neighbor. ^(A)Behold, I proclaim liberty to you,’ says the Lord—^(B)‘to the sword, to pestilence, and to famine! And I will deliver you to ^(C)trouble among all the kingdoms of the earth. ¹⁸And I will give the men who have transgressed My covenant, who have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before Me, when ^(D)they cut the calf in two and passed between the parts of it— ¹⁹the princes of Judah, the princes of Jerusalem, the ^[a]eunuchs, the priests, and all the people of the land who passed between the parts of the calf— ²⁰I will ^(E)give them into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life. Their ^(F)dead bodies shall be for meat for the birds of the heaven and the beasts of the earth.
