The New Covenant

³¹“Look, the days are coming”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“when I will make a new covenant^(A) with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. ³²This one will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant they broke even though I had married them”^(B)—the Lord’s declaration. ³³“Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days”—the Lord’s declaration. “I will put My teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people. ³⁴No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’^(C) for they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest of them”—this is the Lord’s declaration. “For I will forgive their wrongdoing^(D) and never again remember their sin.”^(E)

Hebrews 8:8-12

⁸But finding fault with His people,^[a] He says:^[b]

Look, the days are coming, says the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah—
⁹not like the covenant
that I made with their ancestors
on the day I took them by their hands
to lead them out of the land of Egypt.
I disregarded them, says the Lord,
because they did not continue in My covenant.
¹⁰But this is the covenant
that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, says the Lord:
I will put My laws into their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be My people.^(A)
¹¹And each person will not teach his fellow citizen,^[c]
and each his brother, saying, “Know the Lord,”
because they will all know Me,
from the least to the greatest of them.^(B)
¹²For I will be merciful to their wrongdoing,
and I will never again remember their sins.^[d]^(C)^[e]
