Jeremiah 2:27-29
English Standard Version Anglicised
27 who say to a tree, ‘You are my father’,
and to a stone, ‘You gave me birth.’
For they have turned their back to me,
and not their face.
But (A)in the time of their trouble they say,
‘Arise and save us!’
28 But (B)where are your gods
that you made for yourself?
Let them arise, (C)if they can save you,
in your time of trouble;
for (D)as many as your cities
are your gods, O Judah.
29 “Why do you contend with me?
You have all transgressed against me,
declares the Lord.

27 Saying to a tree, ‘You are my father,’
And to a (A)stone, ‘You gave birth to me.’
For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face.
But in the time of their (B)trouble
They will say, ‘Arise and save us.’
28 But (C)where are your gods that you have made for yourselves?
Let them arise,
If they (D)can save you in the time of your [a]trouble;
For (E)according to the number of your cities
Are your gods, O Judah.

You all have transgressed against Me,” says the Lord.
