Jeremiah 1:6-10
New Living Translation
6 “O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”
7 The Lord replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. 8 And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!” 9 Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said,
“Look, I have put my words in your mouth!
10 Today I appoint you to stand up
against nations and kingdoms.
Some you must uproot and tear down,
destroy and overthrow.
Others you must build up
and plant.”
Jeremiah 1:6-10
Lexham English Bible
6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord Yahweh! Look, I do not know how to speak, for I am a youth.”[a] 7 But Yahweh said to me, “You must not say, ‘I am a youth,’[b] for to whomever[c] I send you, you will go, and whatever[d] I command you, you will speak. 8 Do not be afraid of them,[e] for I am with you to deliver you,” declares[f] Yahweh. 9 Then Yahweh stretched out his hand and he touched my mouth, and Yahweh said to me,
“Look, I have put my words in your mouth.
10 See, I appoint you this day over the nations
and over the kingdoms,
to pluck up and to pull down,
and to destroy and to tear down,
to build and to plant.”
