“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,^(A)
    who draws strength from mere flesh
    and whose heart turns away from the Lord.^(B)
6 That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
    they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places^(C) of the desert,
    in a salt^(D) land where no one lives.

⁷ “But blessed^(E) is the one who trusts^(F) in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.

⁴ Blessed is the one^(A)
    who trusts in the Lord,^(B)
who does not look to the proud,^(C)
    to those who turn aside to false gods.^[a](D)

⁸ Trust in him at all times, you people;^(A)
    pour out your hearts to him,^(B)
    for God is our refuge.

⁹ Surely the lowborn^(C) are but a breath,^(D)
    the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance,^(E) they are nothing;
    together they are only a breath.
