Jeremiah 14:7-9
New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition
7 Although our iniquities testify against us,
act, O Lord, for your name’s sake;
our rebellions indeed are many,
and we have sinned against you.(A)
8 O hope of Israel,
its savior in time of trouble,
why should you be like a stranger in the land,
like a traveler turning aside for the night?(B)
9 Why should you be like someone confused,
like a mighty warrior who cannot give help?
Yet you, O Lord, are in the midst of us,
and we are called by your name;
do not forsake us!(C)

7 Though our iniquities testify against us,
Lord, act for your name’s sake.
Indeed, our rebellions(A) are many;
we have sinned against you.(B)
8 Hope of Israel,(C)
its Savior in time of distress,
why are you like a resident alien in the land,
like a traveler stopping only for the night?
9 Why are you like a helpless man,
like a warrior unable to save?(D)
Yet you are among us, Lord,(E)
and we bear your name.
Don’t leave us!
