The Lord said to me, “A conspiracy has been discovered among the men of Judah(A) and the residents of Jerusalem. 10 They have returned to the iniquities of their ancestors(B) who refused to obey my words and have followed other gods to worship them.(C) The house of Israel and the house of Judah broke my covenant I made with their ancestors.

11 “Therefore, this is what the Lord says: I am about to bring on them disaster that they cannot escape.(D) They will cry out to me, but I will not hear them. 12 Then the cities of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods they have been burning incense to, but they certainly will not save them in their time of disaster.(E) 13 Your gods are indeed as numerous as your cities, Judah,(F) and the altars you have set up to Shame[a](G)—altars to burn incense to Baal—as numerous as the streets of Jerusalem.

  1. 11:13 = Baal

And Yahweh said to me, “A conspiracy is found among the people[a] of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 10 They have turned back to the iniquities of their former ancestors,[b] who refused to obey my words, and they have gone after other gods, to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant that I made[c] with their ancestors.”[d]

Though they cry out to me, yet I will not listen to them. 12 Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they are making smoke offerings, but they will certainly not save them in the time of their trouble. 13 For the number of your towns are your gods, O Judah, and the number of the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to the shameful things, to make smoke offerings to Baal.
