When (B)she has done many schemes of wickedness?
Can the flesh, which is set apart as holy, take away from you your calamity,
[a]So that you can exult?”
16 Yahweh called your name,
“A (C)green olive tree, beautiful in fruit and form”;
With the (D)noise of a great tumult
He has (E)kindled fire on it,
And its foliage has an evil demise.

17 Yahweh of hosts, who (F)planted you, has (G)spoken forth evil against you because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have [b]done to provoke Me to anger by (H)burning incense to Baal.

Can you then exult? 16 The Lord once called you, ‘A green olive tree, fair with goodly fruit’; but with the roar of a great tempest he will set fire to it, and its branches will be consumed. 17 The Lord of hosts, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, because of the evil which the house of Israel and the house of Judah have done, provoking me to anger by burning incense to Ba′al.”
