²³ Thus says Yahweh, “^(A)Let not a wise man boast in his wisdom, and let not the ^(B)mighty man boast in his might; let not a ^(C)rich man boast in his riches,

³⁸ So in the present case, I also say to you, stay away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or ^[a]action ^(A)is of men, it will be overthrown; ³⁹ but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or you may even be found ^(B)fighting against God.”

¹⁹ For ^(A)the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, “He is ^(B)the one who catches the wise in their craftiness”; ²⁰ and again, “^(C)The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are useless.”
