9 (A)The wise men shall be put to shame;
they shall be dismayed (B)and taken;
behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord,
so what wisdom is in them?
10 (C)Therefore I will give their wives to others
and their fields to conquerors,
because from the least to the greatest
everyone (D)is greedy for unjust gain;
from prophet to priest,
everyone deals falsely.
11 They have healed (E)the wound of my people lightly,
saying, ‘Peace, peace,’
when there is no peace.

9 The wise(A) will be put to shame;
they will be dismayed(B) and trapped.(C)
Since they have rejected the word(D) of the Lord,
what kind of wisdom(E) do they have?
10 Therefore I will give their wives to other men
and their fields to new owners.(F)
From the least to the greatest,
all are greedy for gain;(G)
prophets(H) and priests alike,
all practice deceit.(I)
11 They dress the wound of my people
as though it were not serious.
“Peace, peace,” they say,
when there is no peace.(J)
