⁷ Even the stork in the sky
    knows her appointed seasons,
and the dove, the swift and the thrush
    observe the time of their migration.
But my people do not know^(A)
    the requirements of the Lord.

¹⁷ They keep saying^(A) to those who despise me,
    ‘The Lord says: You will have peace.’^(B)
And to all who follow the stubbornness^(C) of their hearts
    they say, ‘No harm^(D) will come to you.’
