Jeremiah 7:3-8

New International Version

³This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways^(A) and your actions, and I will let you live^(B) in this place. ⁴Do not trust^(C) in deceptive^(D) words and say, “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!” ⁵If you really change^(E) your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly,^(F) ⁶if you do not oppress^(G) the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood^(H) in this place, and if you do not follow other gods^(I) to your own harm, ⁷then I will let you live in this place, in the land^(J) I gave your ancestors^(K) for ever and ever. ⁸But look, you are trusting^(L) in deceptive^(M) words that are worthless.

³Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

⁴Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, are these.

⁵For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;

⁶If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:

⁷Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.

⁸Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.
