29 “‘Cut off your hair and throw it away. Go up to the bare hilltop and cry. Do it because I, the Lord, have rejected these people. I have turned my back on them. And in my anger I will punish them! 30 The people of Judah have done what I said was evil, says the Lord. They have set up their hated idols in the place where I have chosen to be worshiped. They have made it unclean! 31 The people of Judah have built places of worship at Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom. There the people offered their own sons and daughters as sacrifices. This is something I never commanded. It never even entered my mind!

29 “‘Cut off(A) your hair and throw it away; take up a lament(B) on the barren heights, for the Lord has rejected and abandoned(C) this generation that is under his wrath.
The Valley of Slaughter
30 “‘The people of Judah have done evil(D) in my eyes, declares the Lord. They have set up their detestable idols(E) in the house that bears my Name and have defiled(F) it. 31 They have built the high places of Topheth(G) in the Valley of Ben Hinnom(H) to burn their sons and daughters(I) in the fire—something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.(J)

29 Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the Lord hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
30 For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the Lord: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.
31 And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.
