12 (A)Lift up a [a]signal against the walls of Babylon;
Post a strong guard,
Station [b]sentries,
Place men in ambush!
For the Lord has both (B)purposed and performed
What He spoke concerning the inhabitants of Babylon.
13 O you who (C)dwell by many waters,
Abundant in (D)treasures,
Your end has come,
The [c]measure of your [d](E)end.
14 The (F)Lord of hosts has sworn by Himself:
“Surely I will fill you with a [e]population like (G)locusts,
And they will cry out with [f]shouts of victory over you.”

Reinforce the guard,

The Lord will carry out his purpose,(D)
his decree against the people of Babylon.
13 You who live by many waters(E)
and are rich in treasures,(F)
your end has come,
the time for you to be destroyed.(G)
14 The Lord Almighty has sworn by himself:(H)
I will surely fill you with troops, as with a swarm of locusts,(I)
and they will shout(J) in triumph over you.
