Jeremiah 50:4-10

⁴“In those days and in that time,” says the Lord,
“The children of Israel shall come,
^(A)They and the children of Judah together;
^(B)With continual weeping they shall come,
^(C)And seek the Lord their God.
⁵They shall ask the way to Zion,
With their faces toward it, saying,
‘Come and let us join ourselves to the Lord
In ^(D)a perpetual covenant
That will not be forgotten.’

⁶“My people have been ^(E)lost sheep.
Their shepherds have led them ^(F)astray;
They have turned them away on ^(G)the mountains.
They have gone from mountain to hill;
They have forgotten their resting place.
⁷All who found them have ^(H)devoured them;
And ^(I)their adversaries said, ^(J)‘We have not offended,
Because they have sinned against the Lord, ^(K)the habitation of justice,
The Lord, ^(L)the hope of their fathers.’

⁸“Move^(M) from the midst of Babylon,
Go out of the land of the Chaldeans;
And be like the ^[a]rams before the flocks.
⁹^(N)For behold, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon
An assembly of great nations from the north country,
And they shall array themselves against her;
From there she shall be captured.
Their arrows shall be like those of ^[b]an expert warrior;
^(O)None shall return in vain.
¹⁰And Chaldea shall become plunder;
^(P)All who plunder her shall be satisfied,” says the Lord.

⁴In those days, and in that time, saith Jehovah, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together; they shall go on their way weeping, and shall seek Jehovah their God. ⁵They shall inquire concerning Zion with their faces ^[a]thitherward, saying, Come ye, and ^[b]join yourselves to Jehovah in an everlasting covenant that shall not be forgotten.

⁶My people have been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray; they have turned them away on the mountains; they have gone from mountain to hill; they have forgotten their resting-place. ⁷All that found them have devoured them; and their adversaries said, We are not guilty, because they have sinned against Jehovah, the habitation of righteousness, even Jehovah, the hope of their fathers. ⁸Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he-goats before the flocks. ⁹For, lo, I will stir up and cause to come up against Babylon a company of great nations from the north country; and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of ^[c]an expert mighty man; ^[d]none shall return in vain. ¹⁰And Chaldea shall be a prey: all that prey upon her shall be satisfied, saith Jehovah.

⁴“In those days, at that time,”
    declares the Lord,
“the people of Israel and the people of Judah together^(A)
    will go in tears^(B) to seek^(C) the Lord their God.
⁵They will ask the way^(D) to Zion
    and turn their faces toward it.
They will come^(E) and bind themselves to the Lord
    in an everlasting covenant^(F)
    that will not be forgotten.

⁶“My people have been lost sheep;^(G)
    their shepherds^(H) have led them astray^(I)
    and caused them to roam on the mountains.
They wandered over mountain and hill^(J)
    and forgot their own resting place.^(K)
⁷Whoever found them devoured^(L) them;
    their enemies said, ‘We are not guilty,^(M)
for they sinned against the Lord, their verdant pasture,
    the Lord, the hope^(N) of their ancestors.’

⁸“Flee^(O) out of Babylon;^(P)
    leave the land of the Babylonians,
    and be like the goats that lead the flock.
⁹For I will stir^(Q) up and bring against Babylon
    an alliance of great nations^(R) from the land of the north.^(S)
They will take up their positions against her,
    and from the north she will be captured.^(T)
Their arrows^(U) will be like skilled warriors
    who do not return empty-handed.
¹⁰So Babylonia^[a] will be plundered;^(V)
    all who plunder her will have their fill,”
declares the Lord.
