Jeremiah 50:17-18

17 “Israel is a (A)scattered [a]flock; the (B)lions have banished them away. The first one who devoured him was the (C)king of Assyria, and this last one who has broken his bones is (D)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. 18 Therefore thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Behold, I am going to punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I (E)punished the king of Assyria.

    driven away by lions.
First the king of Assyria devoured them,
    and now Babylon’s King Nebuchadnezzar has ravaged them.[a]

18 Therefore, the Lord of heavenly forces, the God of Israel, proclaims:

I’m going to punish the king of Babylon and his land,
    just as I punished the king of Assyria.

18 Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says:

“I will punish the king of Babylon and his land
