25 The Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: “Behold, I am going to punish Amon of (A)Thebes, and (B)Pharaoh, and Egypt along with her (C)gods and her kings, indeed, Pharaoh and those who (D)trust in him. 26 I shall hand them over to those who are (E)seeking their lives, that is, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to his [a]officers. (F)Afterward, however, it will be inhabited as in the days of old,” declares the Lord.

27 “But as for you, Jacob My servant, (G)do not fear,
Nor be dismayed, Israel!
For, see, I am going to (H)save you from far away,
And your descendants from the land of their captivity;
And Jacob will return and be (I)undisturbed
And secure, with no one making him afraid.
28 Jacob My servant, do not fear,” declares the Lord,
“For (J)I am with you.
For I will make a complete destruction of all the nations
Where I have driven you,
Yet I will (K)not make a complete destruction of you;
But I will (L)correct you properly
And by no means leave you unpunished.”

  1. Jeremiah 46:26 Lit servants

25 The Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “I am about to bring punishment on Amon god of Thebes,(A) on Pharaoh,(B) on Egypt and her gods(C) and her kings, and on those who rely(D) on Pharaoh. 26 I will give them into the hands(E) of those who want to kill them—Nebuchadnezzar king(F) of Babylon and his officers. Later, however, Egypt will be inhabited(G) as in times past,” declares the Lord.

27 “Do not be afraid,(H) Jacob(I) my servant;(J)
    do not be dismayed, Israel.
I will surely save you out of a distant place,
    your descendants from the land of their exile.(K)
Jacob will again have peace and security,
    and no one will make him afraid.
28 Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant,
    for I am with you,”(L) declares the Lord.
“Though I completely destroy(M) all the nations
    among which I scatter you,
    I will not completely destroy you.
I will discipline you but only in due measure;
    I will not let you go entirely unpunished.”
