Jeremiah 46:20-22
International Standard Version
20 Egypt is a beautiful calf,[a]
but a horsefly from the north is surely coming.
21 Even the mercenary troops in her ranks
are like a fattened calf.
They too will turn around,
and will flee together.
They won’t stand,
for the day of their disaster is coming on them,
the time of their punishment.
22 Her cry will be like that of a fleeing serpent
when they come in strength.
They’re coming to her with axes like woodcutters.

but a gadfly is coming
against her from the north.(A)
21 The mercenaries(B) in her ranks

they will not stand their ground,
for the day(E) of disaster is coming upon them,
the time(F) for them to be punished.
22 Egypt will hiss like a fleeing serpent
as the enemy advances in force;
they will come against her with axes,
like men who cut down trees.(G)

But destruction comes, it comes (B)from the north.
21 Also her mercenaries are in her midst like [a]fat bulls,
For they also are turned back,
They have fled away together.
They did not stand,
For (C)the day of their calamity had come upon them,
The time of their punishment.
22 (D)Her noise shall go like a serpent,
For they shall march with an army
And come against her with axes,
Like those who chop wood.
