A Word of Comfort to Baruch
45 The word that the prophet Jeremiah spoke to Baruch son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a scroll at the dictation of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of King Jehoiakim son of Josiah of Judah: 2 Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to you, O Baruch: 3 You said, “Woe is me! The Lord has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.” 4 Thus you shall say to him, “Thus says the Lord: I am going to break down what I have built, and pluck up what I have planted—that is, the whole land. 5 And you, do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for I am going to bring disaster upon all flesh, says the Lord; but I will give you your life as a prize of war in every place to which you may go.”

45 (A)Ecco la parola che il profeta Geremia rivolse a Baruc, figlio di Neria, quando questi scrisse queste parole in un libro, sotto dettatura di Geremia, l’anno quarto di Ioiachim, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda. Egli disse:
2 «Così parla il Signore, Dio d’Israele, riguardo a te, Baruc: 3 “Tu dici: ‘Guai a me! poiché il Signore aggiunge tristezza al mio dolore; io mi consumo tra i gemiti e non trovo riposo’”. 4 Digli così: Così parla il Signore: “Ecco, ciò che ho costruito, io lo distruggerò; ciò che ho piantato, io lo sradicherò; questo farò in tutto il paese. 5 Tu cercheresti grandi cose per te? Non le cercare! Poiché, ecco, io farò venire del male sopra ogni carne”, dice il Signore, “ma a te darò la vita come bottino, in tutti i luoghi dove tu andrai”».

45 Das Wort, das der Prophet Jeremia zu Baruch, dem Sohn Nerijas, sprach, als dieser im vierten Jahr Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, diese Worte nach dem Diktat[a] Jeremias in ein Buch schrieb, lautet folgendermaßen:
2 So spricht der Herr, der Gott Israels, über dich, Baruch:
3 Du hast gesagt: »O wehe mir; der Herr hat zu meinem Schmerz noch Kummer hinzugefügt; ich bin müde vom Seufzen und finde keine Ruhe!«
4 Sage zu ihm: So spricht der Herr: Siehe, was ich gebaut habe, das breche ich ab, und was ich gepflanzt habe, das reiße ich aus, und zwar das ganze Land!
5 Du aber begehrst für dich Großes? Begehre es nicht! Denn siehe, ich bringe Unheil über alles Fleisch, spricht der Herr; dir aber will ich dein Leben zur Beute geben an allen Orten, wohin du gehen wirst!

Jójákim, Jósiás fia, Júda királya uralkodásának negyedik esztendejében[a] így szólt Jeremiás Bárúkhoz: 2 Ezt üzeni neked az Örökkévaló, Izráel Istene: 3 „Bárúk, te azt mondtad: »Jaj nekem! Az Örökkévaló egyre csak szomorúságot és fájdalmat halmoz rám! Belefáradtam a sóhajtozásba, nem találok megnyugvást lelkemnek sehol!« 4 De én azt mondom neked, Bárúk: Nézz körül! Amit egykor fölépítettem, azt most készülök lerombolni! Amit régen elültettem, azt most gyökerestül kitépem az egész országban mindenütt! 5 Ilyen időkben te valami különlegeset, nagyot kívánsz magadnak? Ne kívánj ilyesmit! Látod, milyen szörnyű dolgok fognak történni ebben az országban és ezekkel az emberekkel — mondja az Örökkévaló —, én azonban ajándékba adom neked az életedet[b], akárhová is mész!”

45 Voici ce que le prophète Jérémie dit à Baruch, fils de Nériya, quand celui-ci écrivit ces paroles dans un rouleau sous la dictée de Jérémie[a], la quatrième année du règne de Yehoyaqim[b], fils de Josias, roi de Juda : 2 Voici, Baruch, ce que te déclare l’Eternel, Dieu d’Israël : 3 Tu as dit : « Malheur à moi, car l’Eternel accumule pour moi tourments et affliction ! Je suis épuisé à force de gémir et je ne trouve plus de repos. »
4 Tu lui diras donc ceci : Voici ce que déclare l’Eternel : Regarde. Ce que j’avais bâti, je le détruis, et ce que j’avais planté, je l’arrache. Il en est ainsi à travers tout le pays. 5 Et toi, tu as pour toi-même des ambitions ? N’y songe pas ! Car je fais venir le malheur sur tout le monde, l’Eternel le déclare. Mais je t’accorde la vie sauve partout où tu iras. Tu auras au moins cette part-là.
