5 But Johanan the son of Kareah and all the commanders of the armies took[a] all the remnant of Judah who had returned from all the nations to which they had been scattered to dwell as aliens in the land of Judah— 6 the men, and the women, and the little children, and the daughters of the king, and everyone[b] whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard[c] had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah— 7 and they came into the land of Egypt, for they did not listen to the voice of Yahweh. And they came up to Tahpanhes.

5 Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers led away all the remnant of Judah who had come back to live in the land of Judah from all the nations where they had been scattered.(A) 6 They also led away all those whom Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan—the men, the women,(B) the children and the king’s daughters. And they took Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch(C) son of Neriah along with them. 7 So they entered Egypt(D) in disobedience to the Lord and went as far as Tahpanhes.(E)
