Jeremiah 38:5-7
English Standard Version
5 King Zedekiah said, “Behold, he is in your hands, (A)for the king can do nothing against you.” 6 So they took Jeremiah (B)and cast him into the cistern of Malchiah, the king's son, which was in (C)the court of the guard, letting Jeremiah down (D)by ropes. (E)And there was no water in the cistern, but only mud, and (F)Jeremiah sank in the mud.

7 When (G)Ebed-melech (H)the Ethiopian, (I)a eunuch who was in the king's house, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern—the king was sitting (J)in the Benjamin Gate—

New International Version
5 “He is in your hands,”(A) King Zedekiah answered. “The king can do nothing(B) to oppose you.”
6 So they took Jeremiah and put him into the cistern of Malkijah, the king’s son, which was in the courtyard of the guard.(C) They lowered Jeremiah by ropes(D) into the cistern; it had no water in it,(E) only mud, and Jeremiah sank down into the mud.(F)
7 But Ebed-Melek,(G) a Cushite,[a] an official[b](H) in the royal palace, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern. While the king was sitting in the Benjamin Gate,(I)
