4 Yet hear the word of the Lord, O King Zedekiah of Judah! Thus says the Lord concerning you: You shall not die by the sword; 5 you shall die in peace. And as spices were burned[a] for your ancestors, the earlier kings who preceded you, so they shall burn spices[b] for you and lament for you, saying, ‘Alas, lord!’ For I have spoken the word, says the Lord.
6 Then the prophet Jeremiah spoke all these words to Zedekiah king of Judah, in Jerusalem,

4 “‘Yet hear the Lord’s promise to you, Zedekiah king of Judah. This is what the Lord says concerning you: You will not die by the sword;(A) 5 you will die peacefully. As people made a funeral fire(B) in honor of your predecessors, the kings who ruled before you, so they will make a fire in your honor and lament, “Alas,(C) master!” I myself make this promise, declares the Lord.’”
6 Then Jeremiah the prophet told all this to Zedekiah king of Judah, in Jerusalem,
