²⁴ “Have you not seen what this people have spoken, saying, ‘The ^(A)two families which Yahweh chose, He has ^(B)rejected them’? Thus they have ^(C)spurned My people from being a nation any longer ^[a]in their sight. ²⁵ Thus says Yahweh, ‘If My ^(D)covenant for day and night stand not, and the statutes for heaven and earth I have ^(E)not established, ²⁶ then I would ^(F)reject the seed of Jacob and David My servant, ^[b]not taking from his seed ^(G)rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But I will ^[c](H)return their ^[d]fortunes and will have ^(I)compassion on them.’”

^2 [a](A)God has not rejected His people whom He ^(B)foreknew. ^(C)Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel? ³ “Lord, ^(D)they have killed Your prophets, they have torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life.” ⁴ But what does the divine response say to him? “^(E)I have left for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” ⁵ In this way then, at the present time, ^(F)a remnant according to God’s ^[b]gracious choice has also come to be.
