Ask now, and see,
    can a man bear a child?

    with his hands on his stomach (B)like a woman in labor?
    (C)Why has every face turned pale?
Alas! (D)That day is so great
    (E)there is none like it;
it is a time of distress for Jacob;
    yet he shall be saved out of it.

How awful that day(C) will be!
    No other will be like it.
