Jeremiah 30:18-22

¹⁸“Thus says the Lord:
Behold, ^(A)I will restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob
    and have compassion on his dwellings;
the city shall be rebuilt on ^(B)its mound,
    and the palace shall stand where it used to be.
¹⁹^(C)Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving,
    and the voices of those who celebrate.
^(D)I will multiply them, and they shall not be few;
    I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.
²⁰^(E)Their children shall be as they were of old,
    and their congregation shall be established before me,
    and I will punish all who oppress them.
²¹^(F)Their prince shall be one of themselves;
    ^(G)their ruler shall come out from their midst;
^(H)I will make him draw near, and he shall approach me,
    ^(I)for who would dare of himself to approach me?
declares the Lord.
²²^(J)And you shall be my people,
    and I will be your God.”

Jacob’s Restoration

¹⁸“This is what the Lord says:
‘I’m going to restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob
    and have compassion on his dwellings.
A city will be rebuilt on its ruins
    and a palace^[a] will sit on its rightful place.
¹⁹Thanksgiving and the sounds of laughter
    will come out of them.
I’ll cause them to increase in numbers and not decrease.
    I’ll honor them and not make them insignificant.
²⁰Their^[b] children will be as they were before,
    and their congregation will be established before me.
I’ll punish all who oppress them.
²¹Their leader will be one of their own,^[c]
    and their ruler will come from among them.
I’ll bring him near, and he will approach me,
    for who would otherwise dare to approach me?’
        declares the Lord.
²²‘You will be my people,
    and I’ll be your God.’”

    and they will not be decreased;

    and they will not be disdained.
²⁰Their children^(J) will be as in days of old,
    and their community will be established^(K) before me;
    I will punish^(L) all who oppress them.
²¹Their leader^(M) will be one of their own;
    their ruler will arise from among them.^(N)
I will bring him near^(O) and he will come close to me—
    for who is he who will devote himself
    to be close to me?’
declares the Lord.
