¹⁰ For I have ^(A)set My face against this city for ^[a]harm and not for good,” declares the Lord. “It will be ^(B)given into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will ^(C)burn it with fire.”’

³ because Zedekiah king of Judah had ^(A)shut him up, saying, “Why do you ^(B)prophesy, saying, ‘^(C)Thus says the Lord, “Behold, I am about to ^(D)give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;

²² Behold, I am going to command,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will bring them back to this city; and they will fight against it and ^(A)take it and burn it with fire; and I will make the cities of Judah a ^(B)desolation ^(C)without inhabitant.’”

⁸ The Chaldeans will also ^(A)return and fight against this city, and they will capture it and burn it with fire.”’ ⁹ Thus says the Lord, ‘Do not ^(B)deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will surely go away from us,” for they will not go. ¹⁰ For ^(C)even if you had defeated the entire army of Chaldeans who were fighting against you, and there were only wounded men left among them, each man in his tent, they would rise up and ^(D)burn this city with fire.’”
