² “Go and announce directly to Jerusalem that this is what the Lord says:

Wages of Apostasy

⁸ “‘Then I passed by you and saw you, and you were indeed at the age for love. So I spread the edge of my garment over you and covered your nakedness.^(A) I pledged myself to you,^(B) entered into a covenant with you—this is the declaration of the Lord God—and you became mine.^(C)

⁴ The older one was named Oholah,^[a] and her sister was Oholibah.^[b] They became mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. As for their names, Oholah represents Samaria and Oholibah represents Jerusalem.
