¹⁸ Then they said, “Come and let’s ^(A)devise plans against Jeremiah. Certainly the ^(B)Law is not going to be lost by the priest, nor ^(C)advice by the wise, nor the divine ^(D)word by the prophet! Come, and let’s ^(E)strike at him with our tongue, and let’s ^(F)pay no attention to any of his words.”

^2 (A)And they began to bring charges against Him, saying, “We found this man ^(B)misleading our nation and ^(C)forbidding us to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is ^[a]Christ, a King.”

¹¹ Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

⁵ For we have found this man a public menace and one who stirs up dissensions among all the Jews throughout ^[a]the world, and a ringleader of the ^(A)sect of the Nazarenes. ⁶ And he even tried to ^(B)desecrate the temple, so indeed we arrested him.^{[b] 8} By interrogating him yourself concerning all these matters, you will be able to ascertain the things of which we are accusing him.” ^9 (C)The Jews also joined in the attack, asserting that these things were so.

^13 (A)Nor can they prove to you the things of which they now accuse me.
