Jeremiah 16:19-21

19 O Lord, my strength and my stronghold,
my refuge in the day of trouble,
to you shall the nations come
from the ends of the earth and say:
Our ancestors have inherited nothing but lies,
worthless things in which there is no profit.
20 Can mortals make for themselves gods?
Such are no gods!
21 “Therefore I am surely going to teach them, this time I am going to teach them my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the Lord.”

19 Örökkévaló, te vagy erőm,
erős váram, menedékem
a veszedelem idején!
Bizony még a nemzetek is hozzád jönnek
a föld minden tájáról,
és ezt mondják:
„Őseink hamis isteneket örököltek,
hazug és tehetetlen bálványokat,
akik nem tudnak rajtunk segíteni.[a]
20 Csinálhat-e valaki isteneket magának?
Hiszen azok egyáltalán nem istenek!”
21 Ezt mondja az Örökkévaló:
„Most már megismertetem magam velük,
végre megmutatom nekik erőmet és hatalmamat,
s megtudják, hogy az Örökkévaló az én nevem!”

toi, mon refuge, |au temps de la détresse,
les peuples étrangers |viendront à toi
des confins de la terre
en proclamant :
« Nos pères n’ont eu en partage |que des idoles mensongères,
des divinités inutiles |qui ne servent à rien.
20 Un homme pourrait-il |se fabriquer des dieux ?
Ce ne sont pas des dieux ! »
21 C’est pourquoi, je vais leur faire connaître,
oui, cette fois,
je leur ferai connaître |comment j’agis avec puissance,
et ils sauront alors |que je suis l’Eternel.
