¹³ For your gods are ^[a](A)as many as your cities, Judah; and ^[b]as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to the ^(B)shameful thing, altars for ^[c](C)burning incense to Baal.

³¹ When you built your shrine at the beginning of every street and made your high place in every public square, in ^(A)spurning a prostitute’s fee, you were not like a prostitute.

³⁹ I will also hand you over to ^[a]your lovers, and they will tear down your shrines, demolish your high places, ^(A)strip you of your clothing, take away your ^[b]jewels, and will leave you naked and bare.

²⁸ When I had ^(A)brought them into the land which I swore to give to them, then they saw every ^(B)high hill and every tree thick with branches, and there they offered their sacrifices and there they presented the provocation of their offering. There also they made their soothing aroma and there they poured out their drink offerings. ²⁹ Then I said to them, ‘What is the high place to which you go?’ So its name is called ^[a]Bamah to this day.”’
