Jeremiah 10:21-23
English Standard Version
21 (A)For the shepherds (B)are stupid
and do not inquire of the Lord;
therefore they have not prospered,
(C)and all their flock is scattered.
22 A voice, a rumor! Behold, it comes!—
(D)a great commotion out of the north country
to make (E)the cities of Judah a desolation,
(F)a lair of jackals.
23 (G)I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself,
that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.

21 The shepherds(A) are senseless(B)
and do not inquire of the Lord;(C)
so they do not prosper(D)
and all their flock is scattered.(E)
22 Listen! The report is coming—
a great commotion from the land of the north!(F)
It will make the towns of Judah desolate,(G)
a haunt of jackals.(H)
