The Nations to Submit to Nebuchadnezzar

27 In the beginning of the reign of [a](A)Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying— this is what the Lord has said to me: “Make for yourself (B)restraints and (C)yokes and put them on your neck, and send [b]word to the king of (D)Edom, the king of (E)Moab, the king of the sons of (F)Ammon, the king of (G)Tyre, and to the king of (H)Sidon [c]by the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah. Order them to go to their masters, saying, ‘This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: “This is what you shall say to your masters: (I)I have made the earth, mankind, and the animals which are on the face of the earth (J)by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and I will (K)give it to the one who is [d]pleasing in My sight. And now I (L)have handed all these lands over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, (M)My servant, and I have also given him the (N)animals of the field to serve him. (O)All the nations shall serve him and his son and his grandson (P)until the time of his own land comes; then (Q)many nations and great kings will [e]make him their servant.

‘And it will be that the nation or the kingdom which (R)will not serve him, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and will not put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, I will punish that nation with the (S)sword, with famine, and with plague,’ declares the Lord, ‘until I have eliminated [f]it by his hand. And as for you, (T)do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your [g]dreamers, your soothsayers, or your sorcerers who talk to you, saying, “You will not serve the king of Babylon.” 10 For they are prophesying a (U)lie to you in order to (V)remove you far from your land; and I will drive you away and you will perish. 11 But the nation that will (W)bring its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will (X)let remain on its land,’ declares the Lord, ‘and they will cultivate it and live in it.’”’”

12 I spoke words like all these to (Y)Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, “Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him and his people, and live! 13 Why should you (Z)die, you and your people, by the sword, famine, and plague, as the Lord has spoken to the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? 14 So (AA)do not listen to the words of the prophets who talk to you, saying, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they are prophesying a (AB)lie to you; 15 for (AC)I have not sent them,” declares the Lord, “but they are (AD)prophesying falsely in My name, so that I will (AE)drive you away and that you will perish, (AF)you and the prophets who prophesy to you.”

16 Then I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying: “This is what the Lord says: ‘Do not listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you, saying, “Behold, the (AG)vessels of the Lords house will now shortly be brought back from Babylon”; for they are prophesying a (AH)lie to you. 17 Do not listen to them; serve the king of Babylon, and live! Why should this city (AI)become a place of ruins? 18 But (AJ)if they are prophets, and if the word of the Lord is with them, have them now (AK)plead with the Lord of armies that the vessels which are left in the house of the Lord and the house of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem do not go to Babylon. 19 For this is what the Lord of armies says concerning the (AL)pillars, concerning the [h]sea, concerning the kettle stands, and concerning the rest of the vessels that are left in this city, 20 which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take when he (AM)led into exile Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem— 21 Yes, this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, says concerning the vessels that are left in the house of the Lord and in the house of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem: 22 “They will be (AN)brought to Babylon and will be there until the (AO)day I visit them,” declares the Lord. “Then I will (AP)bring them [i]back and restore them to this place.”’”

Ten Men with Leprosy Healed

11 While He was (A)on the way to Jerusalem, (B)He was passing [a]between Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as He entered a village, ten men with leprosy who (C)stood at a distance met Him; 13 and they raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, (D)Master, have mercy on us!” 14 When He saw them, He said to them, (E)Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed. 15 Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, (F)glorifying God with a loud voice, 16 and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a (G)Samaritan. 17 But Jesus responded and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they? 18 [b]Was no one found who returned to (H)give glory to God, except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Stand up and go; (I)your faith has [c]made you well.”

Second Coming Foretold

20 Now He was questioned by the Pharisees (J)as to when the kingdom of God was coming, and He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God is not coming with [d](K)signs that can be observed; 21 nor will (L)they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is [e]in your midst.”

22 And He said to the disciples, (M)The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 (N)And they will say to you, ‘Look there,’ or, ‘Look here!’ Do not leave, and do not run after them. 24 (O)For just like the lightning, when it flashes out of one part [f]of the sky, shines to the other part [g]of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in His day. 25 (P)But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. 26 (Q)And just as it happened (R)in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of Man: 27 people were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, and they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 [h]It was the same as happened in (S)the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, and they were building; 29 but on the day that Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and [i]brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be [j]just the same on the day that the Son of Man (T)is revealed. 31 On that day, the one who will be (U)on the [k]housetop, [l]with his goods in the house, must not go down to take them out; and likewise the one in the field must not turn back. 32 (V)Remember Lot’s wife. 33 (W)Whoever strives to [m]save his [n]life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will keep it. 34 I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 (X)There will be two women grinding at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left. 36 [[o](Y)Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left.”] 37 And responding, they *said to Him, “Where, Lord?” And He said to them, (Z)Where the body is, there also the [p]vultures will be gathered.”

19 But You, Lord, (A)do not be far away;
You who are my help, (B)hurry to my assistance.
20 Save my [a]soul from (C)the sword,
My (D)only life from the [b]power of the dog.
21 Save me from the (E)lion’s mouth;
From the horns of the (F)wild oxen You (G)answer me.

22 I will (H)proclaim Your name to my brothers;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
23 (I)You who fear the Lord, praise Him;
All you [c]descendants of Jacob, (J)glorify Him,
And (K)stand in awe of Him, all you [d]descendants of Israel.
24 For He has (L)not despised nor scorned the suffering of the afflicted;
Nor has He (M)hidden His face from him;
But (N)when he cried to Him for help, He heard.

25 From You comes (O)my praise in the great assembly;
I shall (P)pay my vows before those who fear Him.
26 The [e]afflicted will eat and (Q)be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will (R)praise the Lord.
May your (S)heart live forever!
27 All the (T)ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord,
And all the (U)families of the nations will worship before [f]You.
28 For the (V)kingdom is the Lords
And He (W)rules over the nations.
29 All the [g](X)prosperous of the earth will eat and worship,
All those who (Y)go down to the dust will kneel before Him,
Even he who [h](Z)cannot keep his soul alive.
30 A [i](AA)posterity will serve Him;
It will be told of the Lord to (AB)the coming generation.
31 They will come and (AC)will declare His righteousness
To a people (AD)who will be born, that He has performed it.
