28 Låt alla de mediska kungarnas trupper och deras generaler och arméerna från alla de länder de härskar över gå mot staden.
29 Jorden darrar och bävar, för allt som Herren har planerat att göra mot Babylon låter han nu ske. Babylon kommer att lämnas öde utan en levande varelse.
30 Dess tappraste krigare strider inte längre. De stannar kvar i sina befästningar. De har alldeles tappat modet. Inkräktarna har bränt ner husen och krossat stadsportarna.

28 Prepare against her the nations,
With the kings of the Medes,
Its governors and all its rulers,
All the land of his dominion.
29 And the land will tremble and sorrow;
For every (A)purpose of the Lord shall be performed against Babylon,
(B)To make the land of Babylon a desolation without inhabitant.
30 The mighty men of Babylon have ceased fighting,
They have remained in their strongholds;
Their might has failed,
(C)They became like women;
They have burned her dwelling places,
(D)The bars of her gate are broken.

28 (A)Prepare (B)the nations for war against her,
the kings of (C)the Medes, (D)with their governors (E)and deputies,
and every (F)land under their dominion.
29 (G)The land trembles and writhes in pain,
(H)for the Lord's purposes against Babylon stand,
to make the land of Babylon a desolation,
without inhabitant.
30 The warriors of Babylon have ceased fighting;
they remain in their strongholds;
their strength has failed;
(I)they have become women;
(J)her dwellings are on fire;
(K)her bars are broken.
