Budskap till ammoniterna
1-2 Vad är det ni gör? Varför bor ni i Juda städer? Finns det inte tillräckligt med judar för att bebygga landet? Var det inte de som fick det i arv av mig? Varför har då ni, som tillber Malkam, tagit över Gad och alla dess städer? Jag ska straffa er för detta, förklarar Herren, genom att förstöra er stad Rabba. Den ska bli en övergiven ruinhög, och dess grannstäder ska brännas ner. Sedan ska Israel komma och ta tillbaka sitt land. Israeliterna ska driva bort dem som de själva blivit fördrivna av, säger Herren.
3 Ropa högt, Hesbon, för Ai är förstört! Gråt, Rabba! Ta på dig sorgedräkten och gråt och klaga, och göm dig inne på gårdarna. Din gud Malkam ska bli bortförd i fångenskap tillsammans med sina furstar och präster.
4 Du är stolt över dina bördiga dalar, men de kommer snart att vara fördärvade. Du ogudaktiga dotter, du litade på din rikedom och trodde att ingen skulle kunna skada dig.
5 Men se, jag ska låta skräck komma över dig, säger Herren, härskarornas Gud. Dina grannar ska fördriva dig från ditt land, och ingen ska hjälpa dem som flyr därifrån.
6 Men längre fram ska jag än en gång upprätta ammoniterna, säger Herren.
Budskap till edomiterna
7 Herren, härskarornas Gud, säger: Var är alla de visa män som förr fanns ibland er? Finns det inte en enda kvar i hela Teman?
8 Fly till de mest avlägsna trakterna i öknen, ni folk i Dedan, för när jag straffar Edom, kommer jag att straffa er.
9-10 De som plockar druvor brukar lämna kvar en del åt de fattiga, och inte ens tjuvar tar allt. Men jag ska plundra Esaus land fullständigt, och det ska inte finnas en plats där man kan gömma sig. Fördärv ska drabba hans barn, bröder och grannar, alla ska gå under.
11 Men lämna kvar era faderlösa barn och era änkor. Jag ska beskydda dem.
12 Herren säger till Edom: Om den oskyldige måste lida, hur mycket mer måste då inte du det! Du ska inte komma undan ostraffad! Du måste dricka domens bägare!
13 För jag har svurit vid mitt eget namn, säger Herren, att Bosra ska bli en ruinhög, som man svär över och hånar, och dess grannstäder ska för alltid bli ödemarker.
14 Jag har hört detta budskap från Herren:En budbärare blev sänd att uppmana folken runt omkring att förena sig mot Edom och förstöra det.
15 Jag ska göra landet svagt och föraktat av alla, säger Herren.
16 Din stolthet och kraft att förstöra har lurat dig. Trots att du ligger högt uppe bland bergstopparna där örnarna bor, ska jag dra ner dig därifrån, säger Herren.
17 Edoms öde ska bli fruktansvärt. Alla som går förbi ska bli förskräckta och dra efter andan när de ser förödelsen.
18 Dess städer kommer att ligga lika tysta och öde som Sodom och Gomorra och deras grannstäder, säger Herren. Ingen kommer att bo där längre.
19 Jag ska sända någon som liknar ett lejon, en som ska komma från ödemarkerna vid Jordan och smyga sig på fåren i fållan. Plötsligt ska Edom bli förstört.Vem ska jag utse? För vem är lik mig och vem kan ställa mig till ansvar? Vilken herde kan utmana mig?
20 Lägg märke till detta: Herren ska verkligen göra detta mot Edom och också mot folket i Teman. Även små barn ska föras bort som slavar! Det kommer att bli en fruktansvärd syn.
21 Jorden bävar vid ljudet av Edoms fall. Ropen hörs ända bort till Röda havet.
22 En örn ska komma flygande och breda ut sina vingar över Bosra. Då ska modet svika även de tappraste krigarna, och de ska känna sig som kvinnor i barnsnöd.
Budskap till Damaskus
23 Städerna Hamat och Arpad har gripits av fruktan, för de har hört nyheten om sin dom. De är oroliga som ett hav i våldsam storm.
24 Damaskus har blivit kraftlöst, och folket vänder om för att fly. Fruktan, ångest och sorg har gripit staden. Den är som en kvinna i födslovåndor.
25 Du berömda stad, du glädjens stad, varför har man inte lämnat dig i fred?
26 Dina unga män ligger döda på gatorna. Hela din armé kommer att utplånas på en enda dag, säger Herren, härskarornas Gud.
27 Och jag ska tända en eld vid Damaskus stadsmurar, och den ska bränna upp Ben-Hadads palats.
Budskap till Kedar och Hasor
28 Denna profetia handlar om Kedar och om Hasors kungarike, som kommer att förgöras av Nebukadnessar, kungen i Babylon, för Herren ska sända honom att fördärva dem.
29 Deras hjordar och deras tält kommer man att ta, säger Herren, och allt deras bohag. Deras kameler ska bli bortförda och runt omkring ska man höra panikslagna människors rop: Vi är omringade och dömda!
30 Fly för era liv, säger Herren. Dra långt in i öknarna, ni Hasors folk, för Nebukadnessar, kungen i Babylon, planerar att anfalla er och förbereder er undergång.
31 Gå, sa Herren till kung Nebukadnessar. Anfall dessa rika beduinstammar, som bor ensamma i öknen utan att bekymra sig och varken har murar eller portar.
32 Deras kameler och boskap ska tillfalla dig, och jag ska skingra dem för alla vindar. Jag ska låta olyckor komma över dem från alla håll.
33 Hasor ska bli ett tillhåll för vilda djur från öknen. Ingen ska någonsin bo där längre. Det ska ödeläggas en gång för alla.
Budskap till Elam
34 Herrens budskap angående Elam kom till Jeremia i början av Sidkias regering över Juda.
35 Herren, härskarornas Gud, säger: Jag ska förgöra Elams armé
36 och skingra Elams folk för vinden. Jag ska sprida dem åt alla håll, över hela världen till alla tänkbara nationer.
37 Min fruktansvärda vrede ska dra olycka över Elam, säger Herren, och jag ska få dess fiender att utplåna landet och göra slut på dem.
38 Jag ska sätta upp min tron i Elam, säger Herren. Jag ska förgöra både kung och furstar.
39 Men en dag ska jag upprätta Elam och dess rikedomar, säger Herren.

Mensagem a respeito de Amom
49 Esta é a mensagem acerca dos amonitas. Assim diz o Senhor:
“Acaso não há descendentes de Israel
para herdar a terra de Gade?
Por que vocês, que adoram Moloque,[a]
habitam nas cidades de Gade?
2 Está chegando o dia”, diz o Senhor,
“em que farei soar o grito de guerra contra a cidade de Rabá.
Ela se tornará um monte de ruínas,
e os povoados vizinhos serão queimados.
Então Israel tomará de volta
as terras que vocês tiraram dele”, diz o Senhor.
3 “Grite, ó Hesbom,
pois a cidade de Ai está destruída.
Chorem, ó habitantes de Rabá,
e vistam roupas de luto.
Lamentem e escondam-se entre os muros,
pois seu deus, Moloque, será levado para terras distantes,
junto com seus sacerdotes e oficiais.
4 Você se orgulha de seus vales férteis,
ó filha rebelde.
Confiou em suas riquezas
e pensou que ninguém jamais lhe faria mal.
5 Mas eu trarei terror sobre você”,
diz o Soberano, o Senhor dos Exércitos.
“Seus vizinhos a expulsarão de sua terra,
e ninguém ajudará seus habitantes quando fugirem.
6 No futuro, porém,
restaurarei a situação dos amonitas.
Eu, o Senhor, falei.”
Mensagem a respeito de Edom
7 Esta é a mensagem acerca de Edom. Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos:
“Não há sabedoria em Temã?
Não resta ninguém para dar bons conselhos?
Sua sabedoria desapareceu?
8 Deem meia-volta e fujam!
Escondam-se em cavernas profundas, ó habitantes de Dedã!
Pois, quando eu trouxer calamidade sobre Edom,[b]
castigarei vocês também.
9 Aqueles que colhem uvas
sempre deixam algumas para os pobres.
Se ladrões viessem à noite,
não levariam tudo.
10 Mas eu despojarei completamente a terra de Edom,
e não restará lugar algum para se esconder.
Seus filhos, irmãos e vizinhos
serão todos destruídos,
e Edom deixará de existir.
11 Protegerei, contudo, os órfãos que restarem em seu meio,
e as viúvas também podem esperar minha ajuda”.
12 Assim diz o Senhor: “Se os inocentes têm de sofrer, quanto mais vocês! Não ficarão impunes; também beberão deste cálice. 13 Pois jurei por meu próprio nome”, diz o Senhor, “que Bozra se tornará objeto de horror e um monte de ruínas; será motivo de zombaria e maldição. Todas as suas cidades ficarão desoladas para sempre.”
14 Ouvi uma mensagem do Senhor,
que um embaixador foi enviado às nações para dizer:
“Formem uma coalizão contra Edom
e preparem-se para a batalha!”.
15 Assim diz o Senhor a Edom:
“Eu a tornarei pequena entre as nações;
será desprezada por todos.
16 Você foi iludida pelo medo que provoca
e por seu orgulho.
Vive numa fortaleza de pedra
e controla os altos dos montes.
Mas ainda que faça seu ninho nas alturas com as águias,
eu a derrubarei”,
diz o Senhor.
17 “Edom será objeto de horror;
todos que passarem por ela ficarão pasmos
e abrirão a boca de espanto quando virem suas ruínas.
18 Será como a destruição de Sodoma e Gomorra
e de suas cidades vizinhas”, diz o Senhor.
“Ninguém viverá ali,
ninguém habitará nela.
19 Virei como um leão da mata do Jordão
que ataca as ovelhas no pasto.
Expulsarei Edom de sua terra
e ali colocarei o líder que eu escolher.
Pois quem é semelhante a mim e quem pode me desafiar?
Que governante pode se opor à minha vontade?”
20 Ouçam o que o Senhor planejou contra Edom
e contra os habitantes de Temã.
Até as crianças serão arrastadas como ovelhas,
e suas casas, destruídas.
21 A terra tremerá com o estrondo da queda de Edom,
e até do mar Vermelho[c] se ouvirá seu clamor.
22 Veja, o inimigo desce veloz, como águia,
e abre suas asas sobre Bozra!
Até os guerreiros mais valentes ficarão em agonia,
como a mulher em trabalho de parto.
Mensagem a respeito de Damasco
23 Esta é a mensagem acerca de Damasco:
“O medo tomou conta das cidades de Hamate e Arpade,
pois ouviram a notícia de sua destruição.
Seu coração está agitado,
como o mar numa tempestade.
24 Damasco se enfraqueceu,
e todos os seus habitantes se preparam para fugir.
Medo, angústia e dor se apoderam dela,
como da mulher em trabalho de parto.
25 A cidade famosa, antes tão alegre,
será abandonada.
26 Seus jovens cairão nas ruas,
todos os seus soldados serão mortos”,
diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
27 “Acenderei fogo nos muros de Damasco,
e ele queimará os palácios de Ben-Hadade.”
Mensagem a respeito de Quedar e de Hazor
28 Esta é a mensagem acerca de Quedar e dos reinos de Hazor, que Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, atacou. Assim diz o Senhor:
“Avancem contra Quedar!
Destruam o povo do Oriente!
29 Tomarão seus rebanhos e tendas
e levarão seus bens e camelos.
Por toda parte se ouvirão gritos de pânico:
‘Estamos cercados de terror!’.
30 Corram para salvar a vida”, diz o Senhor.
“Escondam-se em cavernas profundas, habitantes de Hazor,
pois Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia,
está se preparando para destruí-los.
31 “Subam e ataquem essa nação confiante”, diz o Senhor.
“Seu povo vive sozinho no deserto;
não tem muros nem portões.
32 Vocês tomarão como despojo os camelos
e todos os outros animais deles.
Espalharei ao vento essa gente
que vive em lugares distantes.[d]
Trarei calamidade sobre eles
de todos os lados”, diz o Senhor.
33 “Hazor se tornará morada de chacais
e ficará desolada para sempre.
Ninguém viverá ali,
ninguém habitará nela.”
Mensagem a respeito de Elão
34 O profeta Jeremias recebeu esta mensagem do Senhor acerca de Elão no início do reinado de Zedequias, rei de Judá. 35 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos:
“Destruirei os arqueiros de Elão,
os melhores soldados de seus exércitos.
36 Trarei inimigos de todos os lados
e espalharei os habitantes de Elão aos quatro ventos;
serão exilados em nações do mundo inteiro.
37 Irei com os inimigos de Elão para despedaçá-la;
em minha ira ardente, trarei calamidade
sobre os elamitas”, diz o Senhor.
“Seus inimigos os perseguirão com a espada
até que os tenham destruído completamente.
38 Colocarei meu trono em Elão”, diz o Senhor,
“e destruirei seu rei e seus oficiais.
39 No futuro, porém,
restaurarei a situação de Elão.

49 Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the Lord; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?
2 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, saith the Lord.
3 Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.
4 Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?
5 Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord God of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth.
6 And afterward I will bring again the captivity of the children of Ammon, saith the Lord.
7 Concerning Edom, thus saith the Lord of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?
8 Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him.
9 If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.
10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.
11 Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.
12 For thus saith the Lord; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink of it.
13 For I have sworn by myself, saith the Lord, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.
14 I have heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.
15 For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men.
16 Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the Lord.
17 Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.
18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the Lord, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.
19 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
20 Therefore hear the counsel of the Lord, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.
21 The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.
22 Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the Lord of hosts.
27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.
28 Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the Lord; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the east.
29 Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.
30 Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the Lord; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.
31 Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the Lord, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.
32 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the Lord.
33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.
34 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,
35 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
36 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the Lord; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:
38 And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the Lord.
39 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the Lord.
