24 Då sade Sidkia till Jeremia: ”Låt ingen få veta vad vi har talat om här, så ska du inte dö. 25 Och om furstarna får höra att jag har talat med dig och de kommer till dig och säger: Berätta för oss vad du sade till kungen! Dölj inget för oss, så dödar vi dig inte. Vad sade kungen till dig? – 26 (A) då ska du svara dem: Jag vädjade inför kungen att han inte skulle skicka mig tillbaka till Jonatans hus för att dö där.”

24 Då sa Sidkia till Jeremia: Tala inte om för någon annan vad du har sagt till mig, för då måste du dö.
25 Om mina ämbetsmän skulle få höra att jag har talat med dig, och hotar att döda dig om du inte berättar vad vi har diskuterat,
26 då kan du bara säga till dem att du vädjade till mig att inte sända dig tillbaka till fängelsehålan i Jonatans hus, eftersom du trodde att du skulle dö där.

24 Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “Let no one know of these words, and you shall not die. 25 But if the princes hear that I have talked with you, and they come to you and say to you, ‘Declare to us now what you have said to the king, and also what the king said to you; do not hide it from us, and we will not put you to death,’ 26 then you shall say to them, (A)‘I presented my request before the king, that he would not make me return (B)to Jonathan’s house to die there.’ ”
