Löften om återupprättelse
33 (A) Herrens ord kom till Jeremia för andra gången medan han fortfarande var inspärrad på vaktgården. Han sade: 2 (B) Så säger Herren, han som utför sitt verk, Herren som formar och verkställer det, Herren är hans namn: 3 (C) Ropa till mig, så ska jag svara dig och låta dig höra om stora och ofattbara ting som du inte känner till.
4 (D) För så säger Herren, Israels Gud, om husen i denna stad och om Juda kungars hus, som nu rivs för belägringsvallarna och svärden: 5 Man har kommit hit in för att strida mot kaldeerna, och man ska fylla husen med döda kroppar av människor som jag slår i min vrede och i min harm. För på grund av dessa människors ondska måste jag dölja mitt ansikte för denna stad.
6 (E) Se, jag ska hela dess sår och ge läkedom och bota dem, och jag ska låta dem se frid och trofasthet i överflöd. 7 (F) Jag ska göra slut på fångenskapen för Juda och Israel och bygga upp dem som de var förr. 8 (G) Jag ska rena dem från all deras synd som de har begått mot mig och förlåta dem alla deras synder som de har begått mot mig i uppror mot mig.
9 Staden ska bli mig till berömmelse, glädje, pris och ära inför alla jordens hednafolk, när de får höra allt det goda jag gör för dem. De ska bäva och darra när de ser allt det goda och all den välgång jag ger den.
10 (H) Så säger Herren: Än en gång ska man här på denna plats som ni säger är öde, utan vare sig människor eller djur, här i Juda städer och på Jerusalems gator som är tomma på både människor, invånare och djur, 11 (I) här ska man åter höra jubelrop och glädjerop, rop för brudgum och rop för brud, och röster av dem som säger: ”Tacka Herren Sebaot, för Herren är god och evig är hans nåd”, och från människor som bär fram gemenskapsoffer i Herrens hus. För jag ska åter göra slut på landets fångenskap så att det blir som det var förr, säger Herren.
12 Så säger Herren Sebaot: På denna plats som nu är öde, utan vare sig människor eller djur, och i alla andra städer som hör hit, ska det på nytt finnas betesmarker där herdar låter sina hjordar vila. 13 (J) I Bergsbygdens, Låglandets och Negevs städer, i Benjamins land, Jerusalems omgivningar och Juda städer ska än en gång hjordar gå förbi herdar som räknar dem, säger Herren.
Löftet om den rättfärdige telningen
14 (K) Se, dagar ska komma, säger Herren, då jag ska uppfylla det löfte som jag har talat om Israels hus och Juda hus.
15 (L) I de dagarna och på den tiden
ska jag låta en rättfärdig telning[a]
växa upp åt David.
Han ska skaffa
rätt och rättfärdighet på jorden.
16 (M) I de dagarna ska Juda bli frälst
och Jerusalem bo i trygghet.
Man ska kalla det så:
Herren vår rättfärdighet.
17 (N) För så säger Herren: David ska aldrig sakna någon som sitter på tronen i Israels hus, 18 och de levitiska prästerna ska inte sakna någon som varje dag inför mig bär fram brännoffer och bränner matoffer och offrar slaktoffer.”
19 Herrens ord kom till Jeremia. Han sade: 20 (O) Så säger Herren: Om ni kan bryta mitt förbund med dagen och mitt förbund med natten så att det inte blir dag och natt i rätt tid, 21 först då ska mitt förbund brytas med min tjänare David, så att han inte får någon son som regerar på hans tron, likaså mitt förbund med de levitiska prästerna som tjänar mig. 22 (P) Lika oräknelig som himlens härskara och lika omätbar som sanden i havet, lika talrika ska jag göra min tjänare Davids efterkommande och leviterna som står i min tjänst.
23 Herrens ord kom till Jeremia. Han sade: 24 Har du inte märkt vad detta folk säger: ”De två släkter[b] som Herren utvalde, dem har han förkastat.” De föraktar mitt folk och anser dem inte längre vara ett folk. 25 Så säger Herren: Om jag inte har fastställt mitt förbund med dag och natt och en ordning för himmel och jord, 26 (Q) då ska jag också förkasta Jakobs och min tjänare Davids efterkommande, så att jag inte tar någon av hans avkomlingar till att råda över Abrahams, Isaks och Jakobs efterkommande. För jag ska åter göra slut på deras fångenskap och förbarma mig över dem.

Herren lovar fred och välstånd
33 Medan Jeremia fortfarande satt i fängelse, sände Herren detta andra budskap till honom:
2 Herrens, himlens och jordens skapare - Herren är hans namn - säger:
3 Fråga mig så ska jag avslöja märkliga saker som kommer att hända och som du inte vet om.
4 Även om ni har rivit ner husen i staden och till och med kungens palats för att få material till förstärkning av murarna mot fiendens belägring,
5 ska babylonierna ändå ta sig in. Människorna i staden är redan så gott som döda, för jag har i min fruktansvärda vrede bestämt mig för att förgöra dem. Jag har övergett dem för all deras ondskas skull.
6 Men ändå ska den tid komma, när jag ska bota den skada Jerusalem lidit och ge staden dess välstånd och fred tillbaka.
7 Jag ska bygga upp både Juda och Israels städer på nytt, så att de blir som förut.
8 Jag ska rena dem från de synder de begått mot mig och förlåta dem.
9 Då kommer den här staden att vara en heder för mig, och den ska ge mig glädje och bli en källa till lov och ära för mig inför alla jordens folk! Folk över hela världen ska se allt det goda jag gör för mitt folk och darra av bävan!
10-11 Herren försäkrar att brudparens lyckliga röster och glädjesångerna från dem som bär fram tackoffer till Herren på nytt ska höras i detta så hårt prövade land. Folket ska sjunga: Tacka Herren, för han är god och hans nåd varar i evighet! Jag ska göra detta land lyckligare och rikare än det någonsin varit.
12 Detta land, som nu är öde och ligger övergivet av både djur och människor, ska än en gång få se herdar leda sina hjordar på grönskande betesplatser.
13 Än en gång ska deras hjordar dra fram i bergsbyarna, i städerna öster om filisteernas slättland, i Negevs alla städer, i Benjamins land, i trakten runt Jerusalem och i alla Juda städer.
14 Ja, den dagen ska komma när jag ska göra allt det goda för Israel och Juda, som jag har lovat dem, säger Herren.
15 På den tiden ska jag låta en rättfärdig gren växa upp ur Davids ätt, och han kommer att regera med rätt och rättvisa.
16 Folket i Juda och Jerusalem ska då leva i trygghet, och deras motto ska vara: Herren är vår rättfärdighet!
17 Herren lovar att från den stunden och för all framtid ska en ättling till David sitta på Israels tron.
18 Det ska alltid finnas leviter som offrar brännoffer och spisoffer och slaktoffer till Herren.
19 Sedan fick Jeremia detta budskap från Herren:
20-21 Inte förrän ni kan bryta mitt förbund med dagen och natten, så att de inte längre kommer i sin vanliga ordning, ska jag upplösa mitt förbund med min tjänare David, så att han inte längre får ha någon av sina efterkommande på tronen. Och mitt förbund med de levitiska prästerna, mina tjänare, kan inte heller återkallas.
22 Både min tjänare Davids ättlingar och raden av leviter som tjänar mig ska förökas så att de blir lika många som stjärnorna på himlen och sandkornen på havsstränderna.
23 Herren talade igen till Jeremia och sa:
24 Har du hört vad folk säger? Jo, att Herren utvalde Juda och Israel och sedan övergav dem! De hånler och säger att Israel inte är värdigt att kallas ett folk.
25-26 Men det här är Herrens svar: Jag kan förkasta mitt folk lika lite som jag kan ändra på mina lagar för natt och dag, för himmel och jord. Jag kommer aldrig att överge Israels barn, eller ändra min plan att en son till min tjänare David en dag ska regera över Abrahams, Isaks och Jakobs efterkommande. I stället ska jag återupprätta deras välstånd och förbarma mig över dem.

33 Vino la palabra del Señor a Jeremías por segunda vez, mientras él estaba aún detenido[a] en el patio de la guardia, diciendo(A): 2 Así dice el Señor que hizo la tierra[b], el Señor que la formó para establecerla; el Señor es su nombre(B): 3 «Clama a mí, y yo te responderé(C) y te revelaré cosas grandes e inaccesibles(D), que tú no conoces(E)». 4 Porque así dice el Señor, Dios de Israel, acerca de las casas de esta ciudad y acerca de las casas de los reyes(F) de Judá que han sido derribadas para hacer defensas contra los terraplenes de asalto y contra la espada(G): 5 «Mientras ellos vienen a pelear contra los caldeos(H) y a llenarlas con los cadáveres de los hombres que herí en mi ira y en mi furor, pues yo había escondido mi rostro de esta ciudad a causa de toda su maldad(I), 6 he aquí, yo le traeré salud y sanidad; los sanaré(J) y les revelaré abundancia de paz(K) y de verdad. 7 Restauraré el bienestar[c] de Judá y el bienestar[d] de Israel(L) y los reedificaré como eran al principio(M). 8 Los limpiaré de toda la maldad que cometieron contra mí, y perdonaré todas las iniquidades con que pecaron contra mí y con las que se rebelaron contra mí(N). 9 Y la ciudad(O) será para mí un nombre de gozo, de alabanza y de gloria ante todas las naciones de la tierra(P), que oirán de todo el bien que yo le hago(Q), y temerán y temblarán a causa de todo el bien y de toda la paz que yo le doy[e](R)».
10 Así dice el Señor: «En este lugar, del cual decís vosotros: “Es una desolación, sin hombres y sin animales”, en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén que están desoladas, sin hombres, sin habitantes(S) y sin animales(T), se oirá de nuevo 11 voz de gozo y voz de alegría(U), la voz del novio y la voz de la novia, la voz de los que dicen:
“Dad gracias al Señor de los ejércitos,
porque el Señor es bueno,
porque para siempre es su misericordia(V)”;
y de los que traen ofrenda de acción de gracias(W) a la casa del Señor. Porque restauraré el bienestar[f] de esta[g] tierra como fueron al principio» —dice el Señor.
12 Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: «En este lugar desolado, sin hombres y sin animales(X), y en todas sus ciudades, habrá de nuevo morada[h] de pastores que hagan descansar sus rebaños(Y). 13 En las ciudades de la región montañosa, en las ciudades de la llanura, en las ciudades del Neguev[i], en la tierra de Benjamín, en los alrededores de Jerusalén y en las ciudades de Judá(Z), volverán a pasar las ovejas bajo las manos del que las cuenta(AA)» —declara el Señor.
14 «He aquí, vienen días» —declara el Señor(AB)— «en que cumpliré la buena palabra que he hablado(AC) a la casa de Israel y a la casa de Judá. 15 En aquellos días y en aquel tiempo haré brotar de David un Renuevo justo, y Él hará juicio y justicia(AD) en la tierra(AE). 16 En aquellos días estará a salvo Judá, y Jerusalén morará segura, y este es el nombre con el cual será llamada: el Señor, justicia nuestra(AF)». 17 Porque así dice el Señor: «Nunca le faltará a David[j] quien se siente sobre el trono de la casa de Israel(AG); 18 y a los sacerdotes levitas(AH) nunca les faltará[k] quien en presencia mía ofrezca holocausto, queme ofrendas de cereal y prepare sacrificios todos los días(AI)».
19 Y vino palabra del Señor a Jeremías, diciendo: 20 Así dice el Señor: «Si pudierais romper mi pacto con el día y mi pacto con la noche, de modo que el día y la noche(AJ) no vinieran a su tiempo, 21 entonces también se podría romper mi pacto con mi siervo David(AK), y él no tendría hijo para reinar sobre su trono con los sacerdotes levitas, mis ministros. 22 Como no se puede contar el ejército del cielo, ni se puede medir la arena del mar, así multiplicaré la descendencia[l](AL) de mi siervo David(AM) y de los levitas(AN) que me sirven».
23 Y vino palabra del Señor a Jeremías, diciendo: 24 ¿No has observado lo que este pueblo ha hablado, diciendo: «Las dos familias que el Señor escogió, las ha desechado(AO)»? Desprecian a mi pueblo(AP), ya no son una nación(AQ) ante sus ojos[m]. 25 Así dice el Señor: «(AR)Si no permanece mi pacto con el día y con la noche(AS), y si no he establecido las leyes[n] del cielo y de la tierra, 26 entonces[o] desecharé la descendencia[p](AT) de Jacob y de mi siervo David, para no tomar de[q] su descendencia[r](AU) quien gobierne sobre la descendencia[s](AV) de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob. Pero yo restauraré su bienestar[t] y tendré de ellos misericordia(AW)».

33 While Jeremiah was still confined(A) in the courtyard(B) of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him a second time:(C) 2 “This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth,(D) the Lord who formed it and established it—the Lord is his name:(E) 3 ‘Call(F) to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable(G) things you do not know.’ 4 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says about the houses in this city and the royal palaces of Judah that have been torn down to be used against the siege(H) ramps(I) and the sword 5 in the fight with the Babylonians[a]: ‘They will be filled with the dead bodies of the people I will slay in my anger and wrath.(J) I will hide my face(K) from this city because of all its wickedness.
6 “‘Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal(L) my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace(M) and security. 7 I will bring Judah(N) and Israel back from captivity[b](O) and will rebuild(P) them as they were before.(Q) 8 I will cleanse(R) them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive(S) all their sins of rebellion against me. 9 Then this city will bring me renown,(T) joy, praise(U) and honor(V) before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble(W) at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.’
10 “This is what the Lord says: ‘You say about this place, “It is a desolate waste, without people or animals.”(X) Yet in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted,(Y) inhabited by neither people nor animals, there will be heard once more 11 the sounds of joy and gladness,(Z) the voices of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings(AA) to the house of the Lord, saying,
For I will restore the fortunes(AD) of the land as they were before,(AE)’ says the Lord.
12 “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In this place, desolate(AF) and without people or animals(AG)—in all its towns there will again be pastures for shepherds to rest their flocks.(AH) 13 In the towns of the hill(AI) country, of the western foothills and of the Negev,(AJ) in the territory of Benjamin, in the villages around Jerusalem and in the towns of Judah, flocks will again pass under the hand(AK) of the one who counts them,’ says the Lord.
14 “‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise(AL) I made to the people of Israel and Judah.
15 “‘In those days and at that time
I will make a righteous(AM) Branch(AN) sprout from David’s line;(AO)
he will do what is just and right in the land.
16 In those days Judah will be saved(AP)
and Jerusalem will live in safety.(AQ)
This is the name by which it[c] will be called:(AR)
The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’(AS)
17 For this is what the Lord says: ‘David will never fail(AT) to have a man to sit on the throne of Israel, 18 nor will the Levitical(AU) priests(AV) ever fail to have a man to stand before me continually to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings and to present sacrifices.(AW)’”
19 The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 20 “This is what the Lord says: ‘If you can break my covenant with the day(AX) and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time,(AY) 21 then my covenant(AZ) with David my servant—and my covenant with the Levites(BA) who are priests ministering before me—can be broken and David will no longer have a descendant to reign on his throne.(BB) 22 I will make the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me as countless(BC) as the stars in the sky and as measureless as the sand on the seashore.’”
23 The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 24 “Have you not noticed that these people are saying, ‘The Lord has rejected the two kingdoms[d](BD) he chose’? So they despise(BE) my people and no longer regard them as a nation.(BF) 25 This is what the Lord says: ‘If I have not made my covenant with day and night(BG) and established the laws(BH) of heaven and earth,(BI) 26 then I will reject(BJ) the descendants of Jacob(BK) and David my servant and will not choose one of his sons to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes[e](BL) and have compassion(BM) on them.’”

33 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
2 Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name;
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
4 For thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;
5 They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.
6 Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.
7 And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.
8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.
9 And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.
10 Thus saith the Lord; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast,
11 The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the Lord of hosts: for the Lord is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the Lord.
12 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.
13 In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth them, saith the Lord.
14 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.
15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.
16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The Lord our righteousness.
17 For thus saith the Lord; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;
18 Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.
19 And the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah, saying,
20 Thus saith the Lord; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;
21 Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.
22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
23 Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,
24 Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the Lord hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.
25 Thus saith the Lord; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;
26 Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.
