Profetia om det babyloniska oket
27 (A) I början[a] av Juda kung Sidkias[b], Josias sons, regering kom detta ord till Jeremia från Herren. Han sade:
2 Så har Herren sagt till mig: Gör dig ett ok med remmar och sätt det på din hals. 3 Sänd det sedan till Edoms kung, Moabs kung, ammoniternas kung, Tyrus kung och Sidons kung genom de sändebud som har kommit till Jerusalem, till kung Sidkia av Juda. 4 Befall dem att säga till sina herrar: Så säger Herren Sebaot, Israels Gud: Så ska ni säga till era herrar:
5 (B) Jag är den som genom min stora kraft och min uträckta arm har skapat jorden med de människor och djur som är på den, och jag ger den åt vem jag vill. 6 (C) Nu har jag gett alla dessa länder i min tjänare Nebukadnessars hand, Babels kung. Också markens djur har jag gett honom, för att de ska tjäna honom. 7 (D) Alla hednafolk ska tjäna honom och hans son och hans sonson[c], tills tiden kommer också för hans land då många folk och stora kungar ska lägga honom under sig. 8 Men om något folk eller rike inte vill tjäna Babels kung Nebukadnessar och inte vill böja sin nacke under den babyloniske kungens ok, då ska jag straffa det folket med svärd, svält och pest, säger Herren, tills jag har utrotat dem genom hans hand. 9 (E) Lyssna därför inte på era profeter och spåmän, era drömtydare, teckentydare och trollkarlar när de säger till er: ”Ni ska inte tjäna Babels kung.” 10 De profeterar lögn för er, och därför ska ni föras långt bort från ert land. Jag ska driva bort er och ni ska gå under. 11 Men det folk som böjer sin nacke under den babyloniske kungens ok och tjänar honom, ska jag låta bo kvar i sitt land, säger Herren, så att de kan bruka det och bo där.
12 På samma sätt talade jag till Juda kung Sidkia. Jag sade: Böj er nacke under den babyloniske kungens ok och tjäna honom och hans folk, så ska ni få leva. 13 Varför vill du och ditt folk dö genom svärd, svält och pest, så som Herren har sagt att det ska gå för det folk som inte vill tjäna Babels kung? 14 Hör alltså inte på de profeter som säger till er: ”Ni ska inte tjäna Babels kung”, för de profeterar lögn för er. 15 (F) Jag har inte sänt dem, säger Herren. De profeterar lögn i mitt namn och därför måste jag driva bort er så att ni går under tillsammans med de profeter som profeterar för er.
16 (G) Till prästerna och till hela detta folk talade jag och sade: Så säger Herren: Lyssna inte på era profeters ord, när de profeterar för er och säger: ”Se, de kärl[d] som hör till Herrens hus ska nu snart föras tillbaka från Babel”, för de profeterar lögn för er. 17 Hör inte på dem utan tjäna Babels kung, så ska ni få leva. Varför ska denna stad bli en öde stad? 18 Om de verkligen är profeter och har Herrens ord, så låt dem vädja till Herren Sebaot att de kärl som ännu är kvar i Herrens hus och i Juda kungs hus och i Jerusalem inte förs bort till Babel.
19 (H) För så säger Herren Sebaot om pelarna, havet, tvättställen[e] och det övriga som ännu är kvar här i staden, 20 (I) det som Babels kung Nebukadnessar inte tog med sig när han förde bort Juda kung Jekonja, Jojakims son, från Jerusalem till Babel tillsammans med alla de förnämsta i Juda och Jerusalem – 21 ja, så säger Herren Sebaot, Israels Gud, om de föremål som ännu är kvar i Herrens hus och i Juda kungs hus och i Jerusalem: 22 (J) De ska föras till Babel och bli kvar där ända till den dag då jag tar mig an dem, säger Herren, och för dem tillbaka upp till denna plats.

Judah to Serve Nebuchadnezzar
27 Early in the reign of Zedekiah[a](A) son of Josiah king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 This is what the Lord said to me: “Make a yoke(B) out of straps and crossbars and put it on your neck. 3 Then send(C) word to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon,(D) Tyre and Sidon(E) through the envoys who have come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah. 4 Give them a message for their masters and say, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “Tell this to your masters: 5 With my great power and outstretched arm(F) I made(G) the earth and its people and the animals(H) that are on it, and I give(I) it to anyone I please. 6 Now I will give all your countries into the hands of my servant(J) Nebuchadnezzar(K) king of Babylon; I will make even the wild animals subject to him.(L) 7 All nations will serve(M) him and his son and his grandson until the time(N) for his land comes; then many nations and great kings will subjugate(O) him.
8 “‘“If, however, any nation or kingdom will not serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon or bow its neck under his yoke, I will punish(P) that nation with the sword,(Q) famine(R) and plague,(S) declares the Lord, until I destroy it by his hand. 9 So do not listen to your prophets,(T) your diviners,(U) your interpreters of dreams,(V) your mediums(W) or your sorcerers(X) who tell you, ‘You will not serve(Y) the king of Babylon.’ 10 They prophesy lies(Z) to you that will only serve to remove(AA) you far from your lands; I will banish you and you will perish. 11 But if any nation will bow its neck under the yoke(AB) of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will let that nation remain in its own land to till it and to live(AC) there, declares the Lord.”’”
12 I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah. I said, “Bow your neck under the yoke(AD) of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live.(AE) 13 Why will you and your people die(AF) by the sword, famine and plague(AG) with which the Lord has threatened any nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? 14 Do not listen(AH) to the words of the prophets(AI) who say to you, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they are prophesying lies(AJ) to you. 15 ‘I have not sent(AK) them,’ declares the Lord. ‘They are prophesying lies in my name.(AL) Therefore, I will banish you and you will perish,(AM) both you and the prophets who prophesy to you.’”
16 Then I said to the priests and all these people, “This is what the Lord says: Do not listen to the prophets who say, ‘Very soon now the articles(AN) from the Lord’s house will be brought back from Babylon.’ They are prophesying lies to you. 17 Do not listen(AO) to them. Serve the king of Babylon, and you will live.(AP) Why should this city become a ruin? 18 If they are prophets and have the word of the Lord, let them plead(AQ) with the Lord Almighty that the articles remaining in the house of the Lord and in the palace of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem not be taken to Babylon. 19 For this is what the Lord Almighty says about the pillars, the bronze Sea,(AR) the movable stands and the other articles(AS) that are left in this city, 20 which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take away when he carried(AT) Jehoiachin[b](AU) son of Jehoiakim king of Judah into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, along with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem— 21 yes, this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says about the things that are left in the house of the Lord and in the palace of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem: 22 ‘They will be taken(AV) to Babylon and there they will remain until the day(AW) I come for them,’ declares the Lord. ‘Then I will bring(AX) them back and restore them to this place.’”

27 Al comienzo del reinado de Sedequías[a] hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, Jeremías recibió este mensaje del SEÑOR: 2 Esto fue lo que el SEÑOR me dijo: «Hazte unas correas y unos yugos y átalos a tu cuello. 3 Envíales entonces un mensaje al rey de Edom, al rey de Moab, al rey de los amonitas, al rey de Tiro y al rey de Sidón, por medio de los mensajeros que vienen a Jerusalén a ver a Sedequías, rey de Judá. 4 Ordénales que les digan a sus señores: “Esto dice el SEÑOR Todopoderoso, el Dios de Israel: 5 Con todo mi poder y con mi brazo fuerte yo creé la tierra, los seres humanos y los animales que hay sobre ella y puedo dársela a quien yo quiera. 6 Y ahora he entregado todas estas tierras en manos de mi siervo Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia. Le he entregado hasta los animales salvajes para que estén a su servicio. 7 Y todas las naciones les servirán a él, a su hijo y a su nieto hasta que también a él y a su tierra les llegue el día en que sean sometidos por muchas naciones y grandes reyes. 8 Si alguna nación no sirve a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y no se somete al yugo del rey de Babilonia, yo la castigaré con guerra, hambre y enfermedad, dice el SEÑOR. La castigaré hasta que la tenga bajo su control por completo.
9 »”No escuchen a sus profetas, a sus adivinos, a los que reciben mensajes en sueños, a sus videntes y a sus hechiceros que les dicen que no se sometan al rey de Babilonia, 10 porque ellos les profetizan mentiras con el fin de que ustedes se alejen de su país y yo los destierre y mueran. 11 En cambio, a la nación que se someta al yugo del rey de Babilonia la dejaré en su tierra, la trabajará y vivirá en ella. Es la decisión del SEÑOR”».
12 Y a Sedequías, rey de Judá, le dije todo esto: «Sométanse al yugo del rey de Babilonia, sírvanles a él y a su pueblo, y podrán vivir. 13 ¿Por qué tienen que morir tú y tu pueblo por la guerra, el hambre o la enfermedad, como ha dicho el SEÑOR que le sucederá a toda nación que no sirva al rey de Babilonia? 14 No hagan caso de las palabras de los profetas que les dicen que no sirvan al rey de Babilonia, porque ellos sólo les están profetizando mentiras. 15 Yo no envié a esos profetas, dice el SEÑOR, y sin embargo están anunciando mensajes en mi nombre. Eso hará que yo los destierre a ustedes y mueran tanto ustedes como esos profetas».
16 También les hablé a los sacerdotes y a todo el pueblo. Les dije: «Esto dice el SEÑOR: “No escuchen las palabras de sus profetas que les profetizan que los utensilios de la casa del SEÑOR van a ser devueltos muy pronto de Babilonia. Eso que profetizan es pura mentira. 17 No les hagan caso; más bien sométanse al rey de Babilonia y podrán vivir. ¿Qué necesidad hay de que esta ciudad quede convertida en un montón de ruinas? 18 Pero si son profetas verdaderos y tienen en verdad la palabra del SEÑOR, entonces que rueguen al SEÑOR Todopoderoso para que los utensilios que quedan en la casa del SEÑOR y en el palacio del rey de Judá y en Jerusalén no sean llevados a Babilonia”.
19 »Esto dice el SEÑOR Todopoderoso acerca de las columnas, la fuente de bronce, las bases y el resto de los objetos que quedan en esta ciudad,[b] 20 las cosas que Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, no tomó cuando se llevó a Babilonia a Jeconías hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, y a todos los príncipes de Judá y Jerusalén. 21 Esto dice el SEÑOR Todopoderoso, el Dios de Israel, con respecto a los objetos que quedan en la casa del SEÑOR, en el palacio del rey y en Jerusalén: 22 “Ellos serán llevados a Babilonia y permanecerán allí hasta que llegue el día en que yo los perdone, dice el SEÑOR, después los traeré y los devolveré a este lugar”».
